THE EDGE: The Edge previews The Hundred clash between Northern Superchargers v London Spirit with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Northern Superchargers v London Spirit
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The clock is ticking down on the Hundred for 2024 as Northern Superchargers host London Spirit on Betdaq Betting Exchange on Tuesday. These two sides are in a very different position heading into the final week; Northern Superchargers have given themselves an excellent chance at a place in the playoffs with a win over Manchester Originals on Sunday evening while for London Spirit they start this game nailed to the bottom of the table. They’ve only managed one win from their seven games as they finish their tournament here. The ECB called this season the “shop window” for selling the franchises in the off season. London Spirit will be popular, but only because of their position at Lord’s not because of their level on the pitch!
Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave have looked the best two sides in the tournament and they take up the top two spots. Northern Superchargers can go past Southern Brave with a win here and put the pressure on them as they meet Welsh Fire on Wednesday. Birmingham Phoenix will definitely have something to say about this too – they play on Monday and then they play in the final group game so they could easily knock someone out of the top three. Whatever way you look at the table, this is an absolutely must win game for Northern Superchargers to have a chance at the playoffs.
London Spirit have been there for the taking this season though and it would be a surprise if we didn’t see a home win. Northern Superchargers have producing some terrible collapses, but the London Spirit batting has been weak all tournament – it’s no surprise to see Northern Superchargers as the favourites.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Headingley is usually a superb ground for white ball cricket. Most England fans will have incredible memories from Test cricket here too! In general, it’s a good place to bat. The first inning scores here this season have been 185/5 (won), 146/8 (chased) and 167/5 (won). It’s probably been the most consistent ground for runs in a relatively low scoring tournament with plenty of collapses. I’d bat first if I won the toss. The only thing to add is that the London Spirit batting has been so weak I wouldn’t trust them to put up a decent score even in good batting conditions!
RECOMMENDED BET:
Northern Superchargers are favourites at 1.68, and I feel there’s still a small bit of value in that price. We’ve been against London Spirit the whole tournament and it’s paid off handsomely – there’s no changing strategy now. The only thing to say is obviously the market has adjusted their pricing against London Spirit, so I’m happy with a small position on Northern Superchargers at these odds. They will definitely be without Ben Stokes too; he was carried off injured over the weekend which was a massive shame given he only came back to the Hundred.
The Edge Says:
One point win Northern Superchargers to beat London Spirit at 1.68 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I have to say this game might be a little tricky for in-running trading. We should have very good batting conditions, but you cannot trust that London Spirit batting line-up. The Northern Superchargers have thrown in some terrible collapses too, but they are more trustworthy than London Spirit! If Northern Superchargers bat first, I would happily support them however and I feel that will be the best in-running trade.
