THE EDGE: The Edge previews The Hundred format game between Oval Invincibles v London Spirit with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s London Derby time again on Tuesday at the Hundred as Oval Invincibles take on London Spirit on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We had this fixture on the second day of the tournament, and the two sides have had very different experiences since. Oval Invincibles won that clash and have gone on to sit top of the table after the results at the weekend. While London Spirit sit down towards the bottom of the table with only four points from four games. London Spirit have been unlucky though as they have had two games washed out with bad weather.
You can argue who was in the better position over those two games, but we didn’t really see enough cricket from either to fully know. Plus, you had bad weather closing in as they played which obviously doesn’t help. You could have said Oval Invincibles haven’t put a foot wrong before their loss to Birmingham Phoenix on Sunday evening. They still sat top of the table afterwards, but that was an opportunity miss for them to just put a little bit of distance between themselves at the top of the table. To be honest, there hasn’t been a stand out side this season, but Oval Invincibles look the most likely for the playoffs at this stage.
We should have a good game here though. As I said above, London Spirit are closer to the bottom than the top of the table, but they have suffered with the weather. The London Spirit batting fired in their last game, but their bowling has to be a worry – they nearly didn’t defend 195/4! Oval Invincibles must do better than Sunday, but we know their batting is better than that!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The Oval is usually a fantastic place for white ball cricket. They always get good crowds, and generally we get good batting conditions too. We had plenty of drama in the first game of the season here as we saw a tied game between Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles – the scores were 138 there. We saw a higher scoring game in the second game with Oval Invincibles posting 186/5 then winning by 94 runs! I’d be keen to bat first if I won the toss here, and the conditions should be there for a big score.
RECOMMENDED BET:
These two played out a very close game when they met at the start of the month, there was only three wickets and one ball between them. I’d expect another very close game here, and I have to opt for London Spirit at 2.19 just purely from a value point of view. I know they don’t have strong batting on paper compared to Oval Invincibles but I feel we’ll see a closer game than the odds suggest here. I’m happy to keep stakes small, but the 2.19 is too big to turn down.
The Edge Says:
One point win London Spirit to beat Oval Invincibles at 2.19 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Both sides are very solid in my opinion, and I wouldn’t be overly negative about either side in any department. I would say that London Spirit look a bit weaker in the batting department, and I wouldn’t have the confidence to support them but at the same time I’m not taking them on because they haven’t had a fair chance with the weather so far this tournament. I feel this is definitely a game for small stakes and reacting to on-field events rather than having a set pre-off trading plan – I don’t see many angles here. Perhaps the best trading angle will be supporting the side batting first.
