TUESDAY IPL: The Edge previews Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL rolls on as Rajasthan Royals host Mumbai Indians in Guwahati on Tuesday on Betdaq Betting Exchange ! This is a fascinating match-up early in the tournament, and it really does have everything. The form side of the competition so far against five-time champions looking to make amends. Rajasthan have been impressive in their opening two games; hammered CSK and then held their nerve in a close finish against Gujarat Titans. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s outrageous 52 off just 17 balls will go down as one of the moments of this IPL season. Hard to believe he only just turned 15! Mumbai Indians arrive in Guwahati with a one-win, one-loss record and some questions to answer.
Obviously last season was a little bounce back to finished fourth after finishing rock bottom in 2024. Their opener against KKR at the Wankhede was good, but the batting against Delhi at the weekend wasn’t great. Maybe that highlighted just how much they need Hardik Pandya and how the side looks so much more balanced with him in it. The good news for Mumbai is that Hardik has reportedly travelled to Guwahati with the squad and is expected to be available for Tuesday – that is a major boost, as his absence was clearly felt. This game should actually give us a good guide where both sides stand this season.
And then of course there is Jasprit Bumrah versus Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, which might genuinely be the most intriguing individual battles of this IPL season so far. The 15-year-old phenom has been talked about as a generational talent, but Bumrah at his best is the sternest test in world cricket. You could call that the match up of 2026 cricket so far!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Guwahati is one of the more interesting venues in the IPL – it’s actually hard to have a very strong opinion on batting conditions here because we don’t have a huge data volume. Generally, Rajasthan don’t have all their home games here – we had two games here last season – the first inning scores were 151/9 (chased) and 182/9 (won). In last week’s game CSK were all out for 127 – but that was more of a collapsed batting performance rather than a tricky pitch – CSK have been poor in general too so I would go into this game with an open mind on scoring. Obviously dew will be a big factor – Guwahati is humid, and as the evening progresses the ball gets increasingly slippery and difficult for spinners to grip in the second innings.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I have to say I was very surprised when I clicked into the market here. Mumbai Indians are trading 1.57 and that looks very short in my opinion. I know they are one of the biggest IPL franchises and have a lot of fans, but they haven’t been playing immense cricket lately. Obviously they have the star names, but Rajasthan have a top side too with a lot of young talent – Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal are arguably the most explosive opening pair in this tournament. I’m happy to back Rajasthan at 2.5 or bigger – I expect a closer game than those odds suggest.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Sooryavanshi vs Bumrah in the powerplay is brilliant theatre, but from a trading point of view it might be best to stay out of the market there. I do feel Mumbai are too short heading into this game, so it’s likely the market will under-estimate Rajasthan most of the game – in my opinion. I have an open mind on scoring conditions here given we have fairly limited data – dew is the absolute key factor here. Once we see signs of that then it’s time to support the batting side.
