IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL game between Royal Challengers Bangalore v Rajasthan Royals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League returns to Pune on Tuesday and we have a cracker in store on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Rajasthan Royals. Both sides had very different weekends with Rajasthan Royals scoring 222/2 to beat Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore getting bowled out for just 68. It’s fair to say we won’t see a score lower than that in this IPL, and RCB will be hoping to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. That was an embarrassing loss, but the IPL is a very long tournament and you don’t have to time to sit around and think too much.

Rajasthan Royals are absolutely flying this season, headlined by an in-form Jos Buttler. When Buttler is in form he is a joy to watch, but I’m sure he’s a nightmare for the bowlers! RCB will have getting him out as their number one goal, but the rest of the Rajasthan Royals top order is in form too. You can’t help but be impressed by this Rajasthan side this season – they were so poor last year it’s been a huge turnaround. In hindsight they were pretty unlucky last year – they suffered with injuries and then Buttler opted out of the UAE leg because of too much time spent in the bio-bubble and a young family.

RCB have all the talent to reach the playoffs, but they face the same question time and time again. What happens if their stars fail? I think we saw that at the weekend – they simply need the runs from du Plessis, Kohli or Maxwell – otherwise it’s a very low score that their bowlers can’t defend. Having said that; I’d like to see what Rajasthan can do if their top order fails. Another fascinating game ahead.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Most of the games have been in Mumbai this season with Covid worries, but it’s nice to have a couple of games in Pune. There will be 14 in total here, and so far the scoring has been quite consistent. This will be the seventh game here, with the first inning scores reading; 210/6 (won), 171/6 (won), 161/4 (chased), 151/6 (chased), 198/5 (won) and 169/5 (chased). I think you can get a nice idea of what to expect from the games here – scoring has been pretty high and even in the chases we haven’t saw a very low score. 149/7 was the lowest score chasing 210/6. I think the team batting first has to aim for 175 to 180, and that will put them in pole position for the game. Anything lower is open to being chased.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise that we have a very even market here, and it’s hard to see anything bar a close game to be honest. I like both sides – I questioned the RCB bowling earlier in the tournament but Hazlewood has come in and done a fantastic job there. The scoring conditions at this ground are pretty good though, and with Rajasthan batters in such good form I can see them having the edge here. I can see RCB being a little cagey when batting because of what happened the weekend, and at a high scoring ground that’s what just might make the difference. Rajasthan have the confidence to attack, and win.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I mentioned above, the side batting first will have to aim for 175 to 180 here to put themselves in pole position. In an ideal world, Rajasthan would bat first and I’d be very happy to support them. I think RCB will be fishing for confidence and I wouldn’t be keen supporting their batting in this game – I would keep a neutral position when du Plessis and Maxwell are batting and really take on the rest of the batters. Even Kohli who is in poor form at the moment, and his wicket is worth plenty of ticks. I’m also happy to support the Rajasthan batting, but I would get out of that trade if the top order fail – I’m not ready to trust this middle to low order yet.
