Sri Lanka v England 3rd T20

MATCH OVERVIEW:

England look to complete a 3-0 clean sweep of Sri Lanka in the T20 series on Betdaq Betting Exchange . After all the doom and gloom following the Ashes disaster in Australia, England have hit peak form at exactly the right time. They won the ODI series 2-1 and have now wrapped up the T20 series with two games to spare. Everything seems to be clicking for Harry Brook’s side heading into next week’s T20 World Cup – even allowing for all the off-field drama following around Harry Brook at the moment. He would have almost been happy to see the Pakistan news about not playing India to take the spotlight away from him!

England have been absolutely flying in T20 cricket – they’ve won nine of their last ten completed T20I’s since Brook took over as captain last summer. The spinners have been exceptional throughout this tour, and their batting has found real form too. England have all the momentum, and as we all know they are an excellent side when everything clicks. Sam Curran’s hat-trick in the 1st T20 was the story of that match – he became only the second England bowler to take a T20I hat-trick after Chris Jordan at the 2024 World Cup. What made it more remarkable was he’d been absolutely hammered for 35 runs in his first two overs before coming back to rip through the tail. Adil Rashid has been in sensational form too with seven wickets across the two games – exactly what England need heading into a World Cup where spin will be crucial.

For Sri Lanka, this has been a disappointing series despite some positives – they’ve been outplayed since the 1st ODI, and in fairness they’ve took some big names recently in their home conditions. Getting whitewashed at home right before a home World Cup would be a disaster, so lots to play for here only days away from the start of the World Cup.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We stay at Pallekele for the final T20. Rain has been a factor in both matches so far, so you’d have to go into this game with an open mind. Playing conditions will very likely change from the 20 overs, so it’s hard to know what a par will be. Sri Lanka put up a pretty big score in the 2nd T20 but England were able to chase on D/L. The forecast for Tuesday isn’t great either, so don’t be shocked if we have another shortened game. Pallekele can produce varied conditions depending on the weather.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s no surprise to see England as the strong favourites here at 1.55. They could take the chance to give a few players a run out here given the series is already in the bag. However, so close to the World Cup they might just opt to go with their strongest XI. We landed a nice confident bet on England in the 2nd T20 to keep their winning run going and I don’t see any reason to change for this game. However, given the series is already in the bag I’m going to reduce stakes a little.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This is a tricky game to trade given it’s a dead rubber and the poor weather around the while series. England have the series won, so the intensity might drop a little. However, they’ll still want to perform well heading into the World Cup. I’d be watching the team news very closely – if England rest two or three big names, then Sri Lanka’s price could come in significantly. England have been much the better side since the first game of the tour though, so I’d expect that to continue. When England’s batting is firing, you want to support them.
