MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Indian Premier League moves back to Dubai on Tuesday as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Chennai Super Kings. It hasn’t been a good start to the tournament for CSK, and while we’re still relatively early to be ruling out the Play-offs; this is game 29 from 56 and they need to start winning games to try and get into the top four. At the moment though, they sit second last with only two wins from seven games.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have a number of issues in their squad, but they are winning their fair share of games. They are essentially a mid-table side, and without their star bowler Bhuvneshwar it’s difficult to see them winning the competition. That being said, they still have Rashid Khan if the pitches start turning. Realistically, Hyderabad will be aiming for that fourth and final Play-off spot and if CSK want to try and catch up, they simply have to win games like this. CSK have a lot of talent in their squad, but they just aren’t finishing their games strongly. Their mid-to-low order has been batting too slow, and that needs to change quickly.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As expected the scoring came down here on Sunday but that was a day game, so I wouldn’t read too much into that fixture. RCB put up a first innings score of 169/4 here on Saturday night and I think that type of score looks par here at this stage of the tournament. It has been tough chasing here at night, with only two successful chases here to date in this years IPL. Ironically CSK record one without losing a wicket! I’d bat first, aim for 170 and go from there. Thankfully the weather is set fair which is excellent; we haven’t had any issues to date.
RECOMMENDED BET:
CSK have to get their act together quickly. Their mid-to-low order just isn’t performing. Dhoni is getting on in age and isn’t the player he once was – he isn’t guiding them home and they dearly miss Suresh Raina coming in at four or five in the batting order. He’s been such a big loss. Hyderabad aren’t world beaters, but they have a solid playing XI and can grind CSK down here. Rashid Khan can go very well against the CSK low order, and really put the brakes on the scoring – although CSK usually do that themselves! For me, Hyderabad should be odds on and I’m happy to back them at 2.02.
The Edge Says:
Two points win Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Chennai Super Kings at 2.02 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I’m happy to largely ignore the day game here at the weekend, as conditions will be different. We saw a successful chase in the day game, but by and large you want to be on the team batting first here. Let them settle in, and aim to get a trade on them from ten out, with the sweet spot possibly being five overs left in their innings. Chasing as been tough here, even allowing for dew.
I really want to be against CSK when they lose their openers and Rayudu, as nobody else is in form. Dwayne Bravo should bat higher up the order for me. Dhoni isn’t the finisher he once was, and there is a lot of value going against CSK at the moment. The market still respects them too much. Hyderabad have the bowlers to support this, however they are a couple of overs short of top class bowling at the moment so watch out for that. Rashid Khan should go well.
