West Indies v England 4th T20

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Have England finally arrived? At 2-0 down in the series with three games left, they were looking at a quick series defeat after West Indies posted 222/6. The home side were trading short odds on Betdaq Betting Exchange anyway, but step forward Phil Salt and Harry Brook. Phil Salt scored a fantastic 109 off just 56 balls, and finished not out too. While Harry Brook took them home with some incredible batting in the final over – he finished with with 31 off just seven balls! Not only that, but Jos Buttler scored a 50 and that was badly needed for his confidence. Now England just have to keep winning and land the series!

The sides move to Tarouba for the final two T20’s, and a series win for England is desperately needed after they lost the ODI series. As I said in my preview of the 3rd T20, they actually have a huge gap now before their next white ball cricket. They have a five Test series in India, and then the T20 World Cup comes up very quickly – not exactly the best prep heading into the World Cup, but of course most of their star players will be playing IPL cricket which is obviously an elite level. Probably better than most International cricket.

I also said in my preview that West Indies just need to keep playing to a decent level and wait for England mistakes. They would have been delighted with their 222/6 at the innings break – they are still playing very good cricket and apart from some wonderful innings from Salt and Brook, West Indies will be thinking they don’t need to change much. A lot on the line here, as I said England need some confidence and a series win for the West Indies is always massive these days.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The scores in the 3rd T20 were a big surprise! England couldn’t chase down 176/7 a few days before they chased down the 222/6 and then the ground had a very good record for batting first too. It is hard to fully understand what is coming in the West Indies these days! We move to a new ground here, still reasonably new by West Indies standards. We didn’t have an International T20 here until 2022! India played the two T20’s here, in 2022 the first innings score was 190/6 which won and then 149/6 in 2023, which also won as the West Indies defended it! I’d definitely go into this game with an open mind.

RECOMMENDED BET:

The odds have been very interesting in this series. It took four wins from five games to see West Indies finally trade odds on favourites before the game starts. After an England win in the 3rd T20, they are back to being favourites! We have landed some nice bets on West Indies so far on this tour, and I feel they are worth backing again here at 2.04. The England batting really came off on Saturday, but they have been so inconsistent lately it’s hard to say they’ve turned a corner. I still feel West Indies are playing at a good level and England have been making too many mistakes.

The Edge Says:
Two points win West Indies to beat England at 2.04 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It’s hard to form a clear in-running strategy here as we move grounds, and we don’t have much ground data here at all. I still feel however that the bat will dominate the ball once again, and supporting both batting sides should be the way to go here – just wait and confirm that we have decent batting conditions before opening up a trade. I’d expect the side who bats first to go well, and that’s the best place to start. The bowling just hasn’t been on fire for either side in this series.
