THE EDGE: The Edge previews the BBL match between Brisbane Heat v Perth Scorchers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Brisbane Heat v Perth Scorchers
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a top of the table clash at the Big Bash on Betdaq Betting Exchange Thursday morning as Brisbane Heat take on Perth Scorchers. The clock is ticking on the group stage, and this result is going to have a big impact on who tops the table. The fixture list has actually thrown up back-to-back clashes as the sides meet against on Saturday in Perth. As things stand, Brisbane Heat have a three point advantage over Perth Scorchers, but they have played a game more. Perth Scorchers haven’t got an easy game in hand however as they play Sydney Sixers who have also been excellent this season.
Brisbane Heat have had the perfect tournament so far. They are yet to be beaten, but two of their games have been washed out so it’s six wins from six completed games. They’ve also been given a huge boost by Cricket Australia – with the little gap in the International schedule the Heat have been handed Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. That’s a huge boost, but with a 100% record do you change things? That’s going to give the management a headache. On a side note, it’s incredible that Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc actually signed for Big Bash sides without ever being in line-up to play. Cricket Australia said the idea was to promote the competition with them, rather than playing!
For Scorchers, it was bad news as Mitchell Marsh won’t be available for this fixture. Perth have only lost one game this season though, and to be honest we have two top classes sides here – we should have a high quality game to enjoy.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
It’s the last game of the season at the Gabba, but with Brisbane Heat likely to top the group we should see some playoff games here. We’ve actually had a range of scores here this season, and I would suggest keeping an open mind on conditions! The first inning scores have been 214/3 (won), 172 all out (won) and 132/7 (won). The last game was won on Duckworth Lewis by one run, and probably should have been chased. However, I would bat first if given the chance – you have a good platform to score runs and chasing doesn’t seem easy here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
As I said above, we should have a cracking game here. We have two top class sides, and I have to say I was surprised when I clicked into the market and saw such a gap between the sides. I was thinking we’d see both sides trading close to 2.0 the pair. However, Brisbane Heat look very good value at 2.2 – I just expect a closer game than those odds and obviously getting their Aussie stars back is a major plus. The Scorchers probably have the better bowling attack, but I still wouldn’t have such a gap between the prices.
The Edge Says:
Two points win Brisbane Heat to beat Perth Scorchers at 2.2 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Both sides are full of quality and top the table. There isn’t any areas you’d want to take them on with – their batting and bowling has been very solid. The game could easily be decided on conditions, and although I feel the 2.2 on Brisbane Heat is very good value I do also believe batting first could be the difference here. The side batting first will have a good platform to score runs and so far this season chasing has proven tricky here.
