THE EDGE: The Edge previews the Cricket World Cup clash between INDIA v AFGHANISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
India v Afghanistan
MATCH OVERVIEW:
India are back in action at the Cricket World Cup on Wednesday as they face Afghanistan in Delhi. After beating Australia in their opening game on Sunday and Afghanistan getting hammered by Bangladesh, India come into this game as the massive favourites on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We saw just how good India’s bowling line-up was on Sunday when they bowled Australia out for 199 in Chennai. It was a tricky wicket, but the reality is India have an excellent attack for any conditions, especially in their own country, that will get thrown at them here. They just have every base covered.
After Bangladesh blew Afghanistan away bowling them out for just 156, India are the last attack they will want to face! The good news for Afghanistan however is we should have very good batting conditions in Delhi, so if their batters needed some confidence this is the best place to be at the moment. That being said, Sri Lanka scored 326 here at the weekend and lost by 102 runs because South Africa posted 428/5 in the first innings!
India had a huge wobble at the top of the order in their chase against Australia. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer all got a duck and India found themselves three down inside two overs for only two runs (extras) on the board. Afghanistan will be hoping to have success with the new ball, but it’s hard to see past India here. They look like an unstoppable force with home advantage – the only thing to beat them could be the pressure at the end of the tournament.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
Delhi can be a very high scoring venue. We’ve pretty much had two versions of conditions here in the IPL. There’s a very flat track with a tonne of sixes, and then slow and low tracks with plenty of spin. Judging by the first game here at the weekend, we’re going to have the flat wicket – at least towards the start of the tournament! South Africa posted 428/5 in the first innings and that was game over to be honest. Sri Lanka still posted 326, I would suggest 350 might not be enough for Afghanistan here.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Given the likely batting conditions, it is very hard to see past India here. I said above 350 might not be enough for Afghanistan to defend and I stand by that. Also, that’s not even going down the road of India possibly scoring 400+ if they bat first. Virat Kohli scored an excellent 85 against Australia and having him in form will be massive for India. The Afghanistan batting flopped in their opening game so there’s a chance they will start cagey here too; which is just leaving runs out there. I know India are very short at 1.12, but I just can’t see past them. I’m not going to recommend a bet that short, but India win easily for me.
The Edge Says:
No Bet. Look to back India in-running at 1.25 or bigger with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With excellent batting conditions expected, you don’t want to be on the bowling side here. If India bat first I can see another score of 400+, or at least close to it. If Afghanistan bat first we might actually see some market movement – I wouldn’t be surprised to see them post a score like Sri Lanka did chasing against South Africa. I’d expect India to chase that down quite easily, but we could get some 1.25 or 1.3 on India in the chase if Afghanistan have 300 on board. This is definitely not a game for the bowlers!
