THE EDGE: The Edge previews the India v England 3rd ODI with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
India v England 3rd ODI
MATCH OVERVIEW:
India and England make their final preparations for the Champions Trophy on Wednesday in the 3rd ODI on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. India already have the series in the bag as they lead 2-0, following on from a 4-1 T20 series win it hasn’t been a good tour for England – especially considering it was the first with Brendon McCullum officially in charge of the white ball squad. England are facing the Champions Trophy favourites here so we can’t be too negative; however their bowling just hasn’t stood up to the test and they need a lot of improvement heading into the Champions Trophy.
From an Indian point of view, everything is pretty much spot on. A century for Rohit Sharma came at the perfect time in an easy win in the 2nd ODI – I had noted heading into that game that runs for Sharma and Kohli was the only thing missing heading into the Champions Trophy. Kohli only got 5 in the 2nd ODI, so he’s under a little bit of pressure to get a time in the little here – in fairness, when is he not under pressure? England would have been disappointed with how their innings finished in the 2nd ODI but there were a lot of positives. They need their top order to fire – but they also need someone to go on to get that century just like Rohit Sharma did.
While the series is gone, this is still a big game for both sides given what’s coming up. England desperately need a win – they have such a poor record in ODI cricket recently, they need something positive to take into the Champions Trophy!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We move to the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. This is obviously a fantastic venue for any cricket game really – conditions have been hard to call since we returned though. We’ve had some monster scores and then we’ve had some games when the ball has turned square. I would go into this game with an open mind, but it would be a surprise if we didn’t see a good wicket – especially given we’re not far away from the IPL too. We had the ODI World Cup Final here as the last ODI back in 2023, India only managed 240 and Australia chased it quite easily. It was reasonably hard to bat here in the World Cup, but then some T20’s here have been very high scoring.
RECOMMENDED BET:
We have a very similar market again here. India have been 1.5, 1.47 and now they are 1.51. They have won both games comfortably in fairness, so I am surprised to see they are now just slightly above the 1.5 mark. England have done a lot of things right on this tour, but their bowling has been an issue – they were blown away in the 2nd ODI with 300 on the board. It’s just hard to see how India don’t have every base covered; they are exceptionally tough to beat at home and I’m happy to support them at 1.51.
The Edge Says:

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, it was tough to bat here at times in the World Cup and it paid to chase. I would go into this game with an open mind on conditions, but I would suggest chasing might provide a small edge here. I wouldn’t be looking for trades on the side who bats first anyway; however the England bowling has been lacking so far this tour so it wouldn’t be a surprise if India put up a big score!
