CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our new cricket tipster The Edge previews the Caribbean Premier League match on Wednesday between Jamaica Tallawahs v St Lucia Zouks with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Jamaica Tallawahs and the St Lucia Zouks start their CPL season in the first game on Wednesday. With only three wins for the whole of the 2019 CPL, the St Lucia Zouks will be looking to improve. That being said, the Jamaica Tallawahs were actually worse! They only recorded two wins all season, and it’s highly unlikely we see either team in the Final in a couple of week’s time.
There still has to be a winner today though, and it is the Jamaica Tallawahs who have improved their squad. Last season their bowling was terrible and with all sides packed with batting talent, it is usually the best bowling side who win these T20 leagues. They have added Mujeeb Ur Rahman who can control the middle overs and Sandeep Lamichhane is a positive too. They have also improved their batting with Carlos Brathwaite coming into the side. They should be much better this season.
The Zouks are reliably bad. They have always had very poor bowling, and I don’t think they have improved their squad. Indeed it seems to have got worse, Colin Ingram will be a big loss and to a lesser extent Rilee Rossouw. I can’t see them winning many games this season, but let’s see how they start!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
In the early game on Tuesday, we only had 17 overs. You can assume that the pitch will be best for batting early in the tournament, but it also suggested that spin is going to play a massive part in the tournament. Sixes were unusually low in the first innings compared to the most recent ground history, and that’s usually a sign of a tricky pitch.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 144/5 from their 17 overs and I think that’s pretty reasonable. For 20 overs the par score seems to be in and around 165 – based off what we have seen so far that looks bang on. The comments after suggested it was a tricky wicket to start on, as you would imagine given the conditions we have seen.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I really don’t like the Zouks squad, and I can see their bowling going around the park. If I had one worry about the Jamaica Tallawahs, it would be how smart their batting line up is – will they just be thinking about hitting sixes. With spin in the wicket, it will pay to get yourself in and pick up the scoring late on. They are a risk in that department, but it’s unlikely the Zouks bowling can put them under that much pressure, and with Jamaica improving their bowling this season I can only see one way traffic here.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Jamaica Tallawahs to beat St Lucia Zouks at 1.6 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
If I had to play out a few possibilities for this one I would look for opportunities to get against the Zouks bowling, particularly in the middle overs. From what we saw in the early game on Tuesday, it suggested that the wicket was tough to “get in” on and then got easier to score, so let players settle a little bit before supporting the batting team,
Zouks also have a terrible record defending a score, so even if they got what look like a good score, don’t be afraid to place some trades on Jamaica at certain times in the chase. Jamaica have also really improved their spin bowling so I expect them to bowl very well in the middle overs, and the market might not be expecting that as this is their first game.
