INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Kolkata Knight Riders v Chennai Super Kings – game 21 of the IPL. The preview includes a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have a huge game on Wednesday afternoon in the Indian Premier League. Both sides come into the game with the same amount of points, but CSK have played one game more. It’s been a slow start to the tournament for CSK, only winning two games from five however they are coming here off the back of an impressive ten wicket win against Kings XI Punjab. Ironically, nobody had successfully chased down any target at Dubai in the IPL and then CSK chased 178/4 without losing a wicket!
Finally Shane Watson came to the party, and if he stays in good form then that will make a huge difference for CSK. As for the KKR openers, they need to come to the party! Narine has been very poor at the top of the innings and one wonders how long KKR will go with that tactic. These wickets have shown that you need to keep wickets in hand until the death when dew comes in and you can score 15+ an over. Narine doesn’t hang around long enough, although granted if he comes off you get a quick start. It just isn’t working at the moment though.
This should be an excellent game. The wicket should produce a very true game with the best side coming out on top.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’ve had some big gaps in the scores here. Chasing has looked easy against the lower target while it’s been very tough to chase 190+. RCB made it look very easy to chase 154/6 here at the weekend but that was an under par score in fairness. I think a par score for a very close game is between 170 and 175 having seen all the games here thus far. I’d want to bat first after winning the toss, even allowing for the possible dew. The forecast is for a very hot day, but we should have perfect cricket conditions by the time we start.
RECOMMENDED BET:
KKR have a lot of very good players and do a lot of things very well, but they are lacking something for me. They only lost by 18 runs against Delhi, I said only because they were never in the game. It was only Eoin Morgan that got it that close. They really need Narine to turn his form around, and Russell too. Russell bowled well against Delhi, but Narine came on and conceded a few sixes and only bowled two overs. He’s not batting well either. CSK have their issues, but they have less issues than KKR in my view and they are my pick to win a very tight game. It doesn’t strike me as a game to be going heavy on, however.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Of the three grounds in the IPL this season, this ground hasn’t presented a “go to” in-play strategy. Dubai has shown an advantage batting first, while in Sharjah you want to be on either batting side given the high scores and batting conditions; leaning towards the team batting first. While here, it has been a mix but I think if I had the choice I would bat first.
It’s going to be a hot day on Wednesday, so keep an eye out for dew as we all know that can change the game. I would be against Narine again at the top of the KKR innings, while with CSK Watson coming into form would make me support them at the top of their innings for a quick trade. CSK mid-to-low order is not trustworthy though, so don’t have a trade open for long.
