THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s IPL clash between Rajasthan Royals v Lucknow Super Giants with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League has been a roaring success so far, and we have another cracking game on Wednesday afternoon on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Rajasthan Royals take on Lucknow Super Giants. These two have been sitting first and second in the table a few times, obviously it’s early days in the tournament so it only takes a win or two for someone to join them, but at the moment they look like two sides who will definitely make the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals have been excellent, but they do rely on Jos Buttler a lot while Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans seem very strong teams in every area.

Lucknow had a setback in their last game when losing to Punjab Kings after winning three of their opening four games. It must be said however that two of those wins came against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who do look two of the weakest sides this year. Rajasthan have also played the two of them already, but they absolutely hammered them and then beat Gujarat Titans at the weekend along with Chennai Super Kings who have been in excellent form with the bat this season – they put up another massive score against RCB on Monday.

The obvious negatives for both sides here is they do rely on their stars. The local players for Lucknow aren’t the strongest, and you feel if the likes of de Kock, Stoinis, Pooran or Wood have a bad game they aren’t going to be competitive. I know Rajasthan rely on Buttler a lot, but it was very promising to see them win at the weekend after he got out for a duck. The middle order came to the party in a very good chase – that win will give them huge confidence.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This is the first IPL game at Jaipur this season, and I feel the best advice here is to go into the game with an open mind. Obviously we’ve had a huge break in cricket, especially IPL cricket, at certain grounds in India because of Covid19. Usually, in the past which is going back to 2019 you’d want to bowl first here. It wasn’t a low scoring ground but it seemed easier to chase. In 2019 six of the seven games were won by the chasing side, and the average score batting first was 163. It’s not usually an International ground, the only International T20 here was in 2021 when New Zealand played India. The first innings score was 164/6 and it was chased down, pretty much in line with the IPL 2019 stats there!

RECOMMENDED BET:

This should be a good game, and Rajasthan are clear favourites at 1.83. We should have a high quality game here, and I feel Lucknow are worth a small bet at 2.16 from a value point of view. I’m definitely keeping stakes small here before the toss – obviously we haven’t had cricket here for a while but I would expect pretty similar conditions. That could mean the toss is vital to the winner, and that could go a long way to deciding the game. Obviously it is the first game here this season, so I’m keeping stakes small and will want to confirm conditions. I feel this will be a real 50/50 game with the toss probably going a long way to giving either side an edge.

The Edge Says:
One point win Lucknow Super Giants to beat Rajasthan Royals at 2.16 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, this is the first IPL game here for a while. Let’s not be too confident and confirm conditions, but I would suggest bowling first is a massive edge. The average score of 163 in 2019 would suggest that conditions are still good for batting – it’s just an edge chasing, possibly with heavy dew as well, so the best trade here is likely going to be getting on the chasing side at the innings break if the score isn’t north of 175.
