Trent Rockets v London Spirit

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Trent Rockets host London Spirit on Wednesday. This is a vital game for both sides as we have reach the halfway point in the tournament. Trent Rockets sit in a very mid-table position with two wins from four games, while London Spirit have been one of the worst performing sides with just one win from their four games. It’s not too dramatic to suggest this is a must win game for both sides – for Trent Rockets they need to be beating sides like London Spirit with home advantage to have a chance of reaching the playoffs, while for London Spirit it’s a case of just trying to stay in the tournament and keep their hopes alive at this stage.

Franchise cricket moves very quickly these days; I’m sure the dressing room is a strange place when they have no chance of reaching the playoffs with three games to go. The Hundred isn’t as “mercenary” as some other franchise leagues, but there’s always an element of that. After a very positive start, the reality is Trent Rockets should be top of the table. They have absolutely thrown away two games to lose by six runs and four runs – against Birmingham Phoenix they lost five wickets in the last 13 balls, then they lost three wickets in the last seven balls against Welsh Fire.

Both times they had their win in their hands, only for absolute carnage. Obviously a big worry has to be that middle order who keep throwing away winning positions, but they face a very weak batting side here in London Spirit. Apart from Welsh Fire fluffing their lines and only setting London Spirit 94/9 to chase, London Spirit have been quite poor with the bat.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

These two have question marks with the bat coming into this game, and it’s easy to say one doesn’t have any faith in either line-up. However, at least Trent Rockets are getting themselves in winning positions. This is the third game at Trent Bridge, and so far scoring has been low – we have had scores of 138/6 and 129/6 with Trent Rockets throwing away winning positions twice in the chase. Obviously batting has been a little tricky; players are blaming the logo on the ball for the movement this summer. With two low scores, two middle-order collapses chasing and these two sides having batting worries; I wouldn’t exactly be expecting a big score here!

RECOMMENDED BET:

London Spirit have a very weak batting line-up, and they haven’t been good so far this tournament so it’s no surprise to see Trent Rockets as the favourites. They offer good value at 1.71 in my opinion, and I’m also happy to keep stakes low given their last two finishes! They have absolutely thrown away two winning positions with middle order collapses; however they are a much better side than London Spirit – surely they can’t throw three games away in a row? One point feels the right stake, 1.71 is worth taking.

The Edge Says:
One points win Trent Rockets to beat London Spirit at 1.71 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, it’s wise to keep an open mind on having trades on any batting side at the moment. I feel the jury is still out whether or not it’s the logo on the ball that’s causing the low scores – that’s the players opinion. The other opinion is that the batting has just been poor at times. I really don’t like the London Spirit batting however, and I’m keen to take them on in either innings. How Trent Rockets batted twice with their middle order under pressure is a major worry for them; and I feel the best in-running trade will be going against the London Spirit batting when the time comes in either innings.
