THE HUNDRED 💯: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s Hundred format game between Welsh Fire v London Spirit with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have the final game of the Group stages at The Hundred on Wednesday, however unfortunately it’s a dead rubber as we have ended up with the bottom two teams in the competition! Unfortunately for the ECB, the final two games were close to dead rubbers, with Northern Superchargers unable to reach the Playoffs yesterday and Birmingham Phoenix assured of a spot but could finish 1st or 2nd. The ECB would have love more drama, but over all the competition has been a success.

The jury is still out on whether the T20 Blast would have produced a similar result with more marketing and a TV deal, but here we are. The games have been generally very good for trading on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE. with the shorter format producing some dramatic swings in-play. Who knows, in a few years it could be the best competition in the world. The only competition at the moment is the IPL, as the BBL have less interest now they made the league longer with more games.

Onto today, and we can expect a low quality affair here between the bottom two teams. London Spirit have had major issues with their batting right throughout the tournament, and Shane Warne is unlikely to coach next year – although who knows what contract he has – and while Welsh Fire started the competition in good form, they haven’t recovered from losing the likes of Jonny Bairstow to England. In the future, the ECB will have to fit The Hundred in with no International cricket just like India do with the IPL.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We finished the Group stages in Cardiff where scoring has been pretty reasonable. 139/8 was chased in the last game here, 150/6 was chased and in the first game here Welsh Fire scored 165/4. Jonny Bairstow scored 72 off 39 balls that day though! These two sides have been very poor with the bat and I wouldn’t trust either of them, so it’s hard to know what is a par score. I wouldn’t even be confident of the lowest score here of 139 being repeated.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This is definitely a game for low stakes given we have the two bottom teams in the competition. Looking at the net run rate too, a win for Welsh Fire wouldn’t move them away from 7th either so this game is just to decide who is last and second last. Obviously I haven’t been a fan of either side since it was clear they weren’t performing. Welsh Fire started well, but they have been a different side without Bairstow. As I have been saying Eoin Morgan is so important for London Spirit, and he is coming into form – he scored 41 off 20 balls in his last game. I feel London Spirit will edge this, with Welsh Fire struggling with the bat there is less pressure on London Spirit to score high.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The in-running strategy is difficult for this game. Either side fills you with confidence with the bat, so it is definitely a game to be very cagey. Eoin Morgan looks to be coming into excellent form, and I wouldn’t mind supporting him for London Spirit – otherwise I’m not keen on looking for trades on the side batting. Usually you want to bat first at Cardiff, but the last two games the chasing side has won so that would put me off backing the side backing first – along with the poor batting. This is definitely a game for small stakes.
