WEST INDIES v ENGLAND 3rd T20: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the 3rd T20 between West Indies v England with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We’re back at Bridgetown on Wednesday with the T20 series locked at 1-1. It’s already been a dramatic series on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! , and we have three games left! England collapsed for 103 in the 1st T20, and then edged out a 1 run win successfully defending 171/8 on Sunday night. Perhaps we read too much into these things, but it definitely looked like England learned a lot about conditions from the 1st T20 and it was a much improved performance in the 2nd T20. A sign also perhaps that not many English players play in the Caribbean Premier League.

England do have a recent history of having slow starts to tours, and their performance in the 2nd T20 was much more well-rounded. Of course we must not forget that the way England play the game will always lead to a collapse or two along the way. That was something that happened often when Morgan first took over as captain but he stuck to his guns and they became the best one day team in the world. West Indies did very well to get so close in the England in the chase, and you have to wonder will the lower order fire so well here. Say what you want about West Indies, it’s never dull when they are playing!

We should have another excellent game here though. It’s a slight shame that we aren’t moving grounds and all five T20’s are at the same venue but that hasn’t had an impact on the drama so far. England need to improve their bowling, especially at the death and the West Indies will be hoping their top order fires – another fascinating game in store.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Despite all five T20’s being held at Bridgetown, it will still be hard to get a full grip on conditions such is the changing nature of West Indies pitches. We can get a belter or an absolute nightmare, and I would go into game with an open mind. I would spend some time on Twitter before the off to get an idea if they are using a fresh pitch or a used pitch as that will clearly have a massive impact on the scoring. Regardless you have to feel the best option here is to bat first if you win the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Although England are a much better team than the West Indies, I still don’t agree with the odds here. England are too short for me at 1.66. They are absolutely superb with the bat and I have a huge amount of respect for them, but they still have issues with their bowling and West Indies hitters can always take advantage of that. As I said above, you’d have to worry about the West Indies lower order firing as well as they did on Sunday, but I still feel the England bowling will make the game closer than 1.66. We’ll probably have plenty of in-running swings here and I’m sure West Indies will be on top at some stage. From a pre-off point of view, a small bet on West Indies at 2.46 is the value.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

After doing so well under no pressure in the 1st T20, the West Indies openers were out very cheaply in the 2nd T20. They must do better and give a better platform to the mid-to-low order. I wouldn’t be supporting the openers in this game as I would just wait and see how they start, but if they did do well I can see the middle order firing off a good platform. I think if West Indies bat first they can set a big score here, especially as the England death bowling looked a little poor and West Indies under no pressure will always score very quickly. In terms of England batting, they will always attack and while that brings runs it will also bring wickets in West Indies conditions – pick your moments when they have good momentum in the market, but don’t say in the market for too long when England are batting. Roy and Ali looked good in the 2nd T20, but the rest never got going really.
