THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s T20 World Cup clash between West Indies v Zimbabwe with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The T20 World Cup First Round continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange Wednesday morning! We’ve already had so much drama at this stage of the competition, and we’ve had some fantastic cricket too. It just goes to show that the ICC should be trying to get the associates more cricket. It’s actually shameful how they are dealt with really and truly – just look at Scotland beating the West Indies and compare how much cricket those two nations have played this year. Scotland haven’t played much T20 at all, they have mainly focus on the ODI game this season. That loss to Scotland now leaves the West Indies needing two wins from their final two games, and this is a very tricky fixture.
Zimbabwe started their campaign with a win over Ireland so they are in an excellent position heading into this game. West Indies are obviously favourites here, but I don’t think they should be as short as 1.38. Zimbabwe batted very well against Ireland and they can do better too – the openers went cheaply and we know Craig Ervine will have a big impact at some stage. Sean Williams only scored 12 in the middle order too, but overall it was a very nice performance.
Nothing went right for West Indies against Scotland in their opening game. They conceded 160/5 and then collapsed to 118 all out in the chase. George Munsey got man of the match for Scotland, but it’s not like he scored at a massive strike rate – he scored 66 runs off 53 balls. Questions will be asked how West Indies have dealt with their star players and when you look at their XI you can’t help but feel that it could be much better than it is. Not picking Andre Russell is just criminal, and then we have the Narine drama too. I suppose it’s just West Indies being West Indies – always drama!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
At the moment, the weather forecast for the proper Group stage next week looks shocking. The ICC will be hoping that changes – one win might actually get you through at Melbourne given the forecast. In Hobart for this week the weather hasn’t been great but we should be OK here. It pays to keep an eye on the radar though! We saw 160/5 and 174/7 in the two first innings’ here on Monday and I feel that’s a fair reflection of conditions. Those scores are pretty much in line with what we’d see in the Big Bash, and you’d have to lean towards batting first after seeing those games too.
RECOMMENDED BET:
West Indies come into this game under immense pressure, and they are heavy favourites too. I really don’t think they should be as short as 1.38 – from a value point of view I’m very happy to take the 3.4 on Zimbabwe. I don’t think there’s much between the sides from a bowling point of view and the batting from West Indies on Monday looked very poor. They haven’t got the same quality of stars as years personally and I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t make the next stage of the competition – although if they win here they should beat Ireland in their final game. Whatever happens, I fully expect a closer game than the odds suggest here.
The Edge Says:
One point win Zimbabwe to beat West Indies at 3.4 with Betdaq Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although your in-running strategy should involve checking the radar here, it does look like we’ll be OK weather wise. After seeing the two opening games here, I would definitely lean towards the team batting first. However, it is hard to have full confidence in West Indies after their batting display earlier in the week – I wouldn’t definitely avoid having a decent stake on West Indies while batting at the moment! The best trade might be supporting Zimbabwe if they get to bat first,
