ASTON VILLA V CARDIFF CITY

8pm The FA Cup Fifth Round kicks off on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE as Aston Villa host Cardiff City on Friday night! We have an excellent weekend ahead with plenty of excellent ties – all Premier League clashes along with excellent storylines with Manchester City hosting Plymouth Argyle after they knocked out Liverpool! This is a game that Aston Villa will be expected to win given the massive gulf in class between the sides, but we have seen a lot of red flags with Villa this season – they haven’t been anywhere close to as consistent last season.

Cardiff have been really struggling in the Championship this season; they sit down in 19th and they’re heavily involved in the relegation battle. They actually record a massive win last weekend over Hull to give them a little breathing space. They’ve been tough to beat lately in the Championship; things are looking brighter with just two losses in their last twelve games. Obviously the last two seasons in the Premier League has really highlighted the gulf in class between the Premier League and the Championship these days, and Cardiff face a massive task here. They drew recently with Plymouth Argyle, but when they upset the odds against Liverpool they had home advantage.

As you would expect, Aston Villa come into the game as the red-hot favourites. The home win is trading 1.21 with Cardiff City 19.5 and the draw is 7.4 at the time of writing. Cardiff are marginally conceding more chances than they are creating in the Championship this season, but there is a huge difference in their home and away performances. For example, their average xG conceded at home is 1.24 but that rises to 1.52 away. When they are away from home, they conceded more than they created whereas at home it’s a different story.

It’s hard to see pas the Villa win here, but I wouldn’t be rushing to include them in a weekend Acca as short as 1.21. Villa have the seventh worst attacking figure in the Premier League and their average xG conceded has been creeping up lately. They shipped four goals against Crystal Palace last weekend, and they’ve only recorded one win from their last seven Premier League games. The market is expecting goals here, but in my opinion Villa will have to grind out a win. I’m happy to have a small bet on Under 3.5 goals at 1.7.

The Striker Says:
One point win Under 3.5 goals at 1.7 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
