BRIGHTON V BRENTFORD

7.30pm The Premier League action continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with two fixtures on Friday night. We have two odds on home favourites, and we kick off the evening with Brighton hosting Brentford. Both sides went into Christmas sitting in mid-table with just two points between them – Brighton have faced a lot of criticism in recent weeks and they extended their run without a win with a 1-1 draw at West Ham before Christmas. That left them with five games without a win, and obviously they faced all the backlash with the party at the same time as the Palace loss. Brentford lost 2-0 at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, but Forest have had some excellent momentum this season! Brighton are trading 1.73 with Brentford 4.9 and the draw is 4.4 at the time of writing. This should be an entertaining game – both sides have been poor at the back. Brighton have a very respectable average xG conceded figure, but they have been very sloppy conceding more goals than they should. Brentford have been all over the place at the back at times however; they have the joint-worst defensive figure in the Premier League.

I can understand why Brighton are the favourites, but I wouldn’t have them as short as 1.73 given their current run. It’s hard to have faith in Brentford given their record at the back this season, and that makes me want to stay out of the match odds market here. Brentford have been over-performing in front of goal this season, so we should have an entertaining game. Given both sides have been sloppy at the back, the natural market to look at here is the Over/Under 2.5 goals market. This game absolutely screams goals in my opinion, and Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.51 and that looks excellent value in my opinion. I’d have it trading closer to 1.4, and we’re getting a lot of value here in my opinion. I feel it’s worth a Five Star NAP in what should be a very open and entertaining game – neither side sit back and with Brentford conceding so many chances it’s hard to not see goals in this one!

ARSENAL V IPSWICH

8.15pm We finish Friday night with Arsenal hosting Ipswich, and it’s fair to say that everyone will be expecting a comfortable home win here. Arsenal are trading as short as 1.16 with Ipswich 23.0 and the draw is 9.4 at the time of writing. Arsenal definitely steadied the ship with a 5-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend – that capped a good week for Arteta as they beat Palace in the Carabao Cup Quarter-Final too. They definitely needed that after draws against Fulham and Everton – Arteta has faced some criticism for being too negative but in my opinion he has been trying to fix the issues at the back because you could see on the xG figure they were conceding a lot more chances compared to last season. That has come at a cost going forward, and from that point of view the five goals against Palace were very welcome. On paper, fixtures don’t get much easier than at home to Ipswich so this is a good chance for Arsenal to build on that goal scoring – they need to with Liverpool scoring so many goals lately – it looks like there’s no stopping Arne Slot’s men in the title race.

With Arsenal trading so short in the match odds market, we’re going to have to look around the side markets for some value here. I can’t see an upset here – Ipswich only have an average xG created of 1.09 which is the second-worst attacking figure in the Premier League. Ipswich have also been poor at the back, their average xG conceded is high at 1.62 but they have also been sloppy conceding more goals than they should. The obvious place to start is the goal and handicap markets – Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.4 but the market is expecting Arsenal to do most of the work there with Both Teams Not To Score trading around 1.65. Arsenal -1.5 goals looks quite short at around the 1.5 mark to be honest, and I feel the better option is the Both Teams Not To Score Bet at 1.65 – effectively an Arsenal clean sheet on the way to winning. This is definitely a game for small stakes however; I’m expecting a one sided Arsenal win but so is the market so there isn’t much value on offer.

The Striker Says:
One point win Both Teams Not To Score at 1.65 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
