8pm We have a fascinating fixture from a betting point of view for Monday Night Football this week! Brighton were very impressive against Liverpool last week when getting a 1-1 draw – they were actually unlucky not to win with an xG of 2.22 to 0.32! While Southampton lost 3-2 to Man United having been 2-0 up; however they have been very impressive in general this season and had an excellent away record last season.
Brighton are favourites at the time of writing as they are currently trading 2.56 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange and I don’t see them as being that short. Southampton have been very good this season – indeed they topped the league for a short while which would have been enjoyable for their fans! Southampton actually finished third in the away table in the Premier League last season, and while obviously the situation has changed regarding the home and away factor with Covid19, Brighton are in the bottom three on home form this season.
I fully respect this Brighton side as they have been playing some good football. They play the game the right way and are one of the better sides towards the bottom of the Premier League. However, from a value point of view this evening I just can’t have them at 2.56. Southampton are a very tempting bet at around 3.0 but it’s nice to keep the draw on side in what should be a competitive game. I couldn’t put anyone off Southampton, but for me there’s more value in the Brighton lay at the odds.
