FA CUP: The Striker looks ahead to the FA Cup fourth round action on Monday between DERBY COUNTY v WEST HAM with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
DERBY COUNTY V WEST HAM
7.45pm We finish the Fourth Round weekend of the FA Cup on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Derby County hosting West Ham for Monday Night Football! It’s fair to say that most casual football fans will be expecting a comfortable win for West Ham here, but they haven’t been having a good season and I feel that’s reflected in the odds on 1.84. Although Derby County are a League One side now, they are sitting in the top four in League One and they will probably have more confidence than West Ham!
That makes this is a very interesting game. From a neutral point of view, I’m sure a lot of football fans would be delighted to see Derby win after everything they’ve been through over the last year or so. They got hit with a 21 point deduction last season in the Championship which effectively relegated them. Without that they would have been fine – most casual Premier League fans will know more about them purely from the point of view that Wayne Rooney managed them last season.
West Ham recorded a much needed 2-0 win over Everton last weekend, but they have had a dramatic drop off in form this season. For the two season prior, they were in the mix for the European spots, even the Top Four at some stages but they have been closer to the relegation battle this season. David Moyes is clearly a man under pressure, and he probably has to name a reasonably strong side here for a Cup game with a big TV slot.
At the moment, West Ham sit just one point away from the bottom three in the Premier League, despite that win over Everton. Away from home, they lost to Wolves before beating Everton (win home advantage) and given all the issues Wolves have had this season, that probably highlights how poor the Hammers have been away from home. They have only managed five points away from home in the Premier League this season from ten games, and although there is a gulf in class between the sides here, I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 1.84.
I feel the best option here is to stay away from the match odds market as there is better value in the side markets. Indeed, I couldn’t put anyone off the West Ham lay at 1.84 but I would definitely keep stakes on the small side. Although West Ham have been poor this season, their xG figures haven’t been too bad – they are creating more than they conceded xG wise.
West Ham have clearly struggled away from home this season, and I’d expect Derby to sit back and make life very difficult for them here. Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.85 which looks a very nice price. West Ham have had Under 2.5 goals in three of their last four Premier League games, and I can’t see them running riot in front of goal either. Derby County games have had more goals recently, but that’s obviously against lower opposition and I’d expect them to be quite cagey here. A game to keep stakes low in, but Unders looks the value call.
The Striker Says:
One point win Under 2.5 goals at 1.84 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
