MONDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Monday’s Premier League game between EVERTON v TOTTENHAM with FACTMAN stats and a recommended BETDAQ bet.
EVERTON V TOTTENHAM
8pm We have Monday Night Football from the Premier League on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week, and we have an absolute cracker too as Everton host Spurs. Conte has finally left Spurs after plenty of digs at the club, and I have to say after the outburst when they drew 3-3 against Southampton before the International break; I am surprised he stayed for a little while after that! One has to wonder how the players feel – he basically called the club a failure without any trophies. Usually when a manager has an outburst like that, especially the way he delivered it with venom too, it’s a sign that his time is up. It will be interesting to see what type of performance we get here from the players.
Everton come into the game in a completely different headspace. Sean Dyche has been a massive success since taking over from Frank Lampard, and they have given themselves a great opportunity of staying in the Premier League now after wins against Arsenal, Leeds and Brentford along with draws against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest. They are still slap-bang in the relegation battle, but they weren’t in the bottom three heading into this matchday and Dyche has them playing much better football now too. Against a Spurs side seemingly in crisis, they will fancy their chances here.
We have a very interesting market here. Spurs are favourites, as you would expect really, but they aren’t odds on and there’s plenty of layers about for them. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Everton 3.55, Spurs 2.3 and the draw is 3.45. We’re going to have some big opinions on the Spurs price on either side of the book, and I have to say I am in the lay camp. Everton have put in a lot of good performances at home since Dyche took over, and they are creating more chances now than they have been all season.
Added to Everton being a lot better at home, Spurs have been poor away from home this season. Nearly all of their poor performances have come away from home – the Conte press conference took all the headlines after drawing with Southampton, but the Saints finished the game with a higher xG figure. Spurs lost away to Wolves, and then 4-1 at Leicester too. Most of their low xG figures created have come away from home this season as well.
I expect a very entertaining game, with plenty of talking points along the way. It’s going to be fascinating to see how the situation plays out at Spurs from here, but for the time being I am very happy to lay Spurs at 2.3. I fully expect Everton to make the game closer than those odds suggest, and you wouldn’t be totally surprised to see Everton win either. I’m happy to keep the draw on our side here though, and the Spurs lay is a confident selection.
The Striker Says:
Three points lay (liability) Tottenham to beat Everton at 2.3 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
