LEEDS V EVERTON

8pm: It’s the first Monday Night Football fixture of the new Premier League season! Leeds host Everton and we have a fascinating market on Betdaq Betting Exchange. Everton took some huge steps forward when David Moyes came back, and it will be very interesting to see how Leeds shape up to a solid Everton side. All the forecasts seem to point to Everton finishing mid-table this season and not having to worry about the relegation battle – it’s been a while since that was the case! Leeds will definitely have to worry about the relegation battle given how difficult it’s become to actually stay in the Premier League after promotion.

For back-to-back seasons now, the three sides who have come up have gone straight back down. With the money in the top flight these days, the gulf in class between the Premier League and the Championship has become huge. Leeds will arrive into the Premier League with very strong hopes of staying up – but we did see Burnley arrive like that before the 2023/24 season. Coming into the new season, Burnley and Sunderland are odds on to go back down this season – Leeds are next in the betting but they aren’t odds on. They are trading around 2.5 before a ball is kicked this season. Realistically if Leeds are to stay up, they probably need one of Brentford or Wolves to go down.

It’s hard to believe that it’s the opening weekend of the season and we are talking about relegation already but here we are. To be honest, with home advantage a fixture like this will give us a good guide on Leeds. If Everton come here and hammer them, you already know that it will be a long season ahead. It’s no surprise that we have an open betting heat – Leeds come into the game as the favourites at 2.44 with Everton 3.2 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. I have to say, I do feel that the 2.44 on Leeds is a little short here – Everton were very strong under Moyes when he arrived back last season.

Leeds obviously got 100 points in the Championship, finished with the highest attacking figure and also the best defensive figure. An average xG conceded of just 0.77 is impressive in any league to be honest – it is that backbone which might actually keep them up this season rather than attacking flare. Let’s be honest; the relegation battle is about grinding out results not flashy football. That being said, I do feel we’ll see a closer game than the odds suggest here and from a value point of view I’m happy with the Leeds lay at 2.44.

The Striker Says:
Two points lay (liability) Leeds to beat Everton at 2.44 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
