LEEDS V LIVERPOOL
8pm We have a superb fixture for Monday Night football this week as Leeds host Liverpool! Leeds are fresh off a 2-1 win against Manchester City, while the pressure is really on Liverpool in the race for a Top Four finish. We should have a fascinating 90 minutes and we could have a real thriller in-play on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Leeds shocked everyone with a late winner against City, and they could really hurt Liverpool’s Top Four chances tonight.
While I say that the late Leeds winner shocked everyone, it was more the timing in the market rather than the result. It was nice to land a good lay on Man City at very short odds last weekend, but as I said at the time it was probably down to City having one eye on their Champions League game given how far ahead they are at the top of the Premier League. The situation is very different tonight, as Liverpool need all the points they can get in the race for the Top Four.
This is a great chance for Liverpool, as Chelsea and Leicester have been in FA Cup action at the weekend and they can create some pressure. However, if they drop points they will find themselves in a difficult position. It’s been quite the fall from grace for Liverpool this season, now that they are out of the Champions League their squad could really be damaged if they fail to qualify. You already have the likes of Harry Kane thinking about leaving Spurs if they have no Champions League football – who would leave Liverpool? Football is fast moving these days.
The reality is Liverpool simply haven’t been good enough this year. They went through a very poor spell at the turn of the year and they haven’t recovered. They are making far too many mistakes at the back and they aren’t creating the same volume of chances they did last season. Leeds were lucky to beat City last weekend, but you can’t fault this Leeds side – they really go provide an entertaining game for everyone and sometimes that comes at a cost. They have been excellent going forward, but they do leave gaps at the back.
Over 2.5 goals is certainly an option tonight, but I like the Liverpool lay at 1.7. I feel we’ll see a much closer game than those odds suggest, and I can see Leeds causing Liverpool a lot of problems at the back. We could see a crazy end-to-end game here given the way Leeds play, but I do feel they will create a lot of chances against this Liverpool side. Liverpool have been making too many mistakes at the back to be 1.7 tonight, and Leeds can take full advantage with their excellent counter-attacking play.
The Striker Says:
Two points lay (liability) Liverpool to beat Leeds at 1.7 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

MATCH STATS
- Leeds have won just one of their last 11 home games against Liverpool in all competitions (D3 L7), with that being a famous 4-3 victory in November 2000 with Mark Viduka scoring all four for the Whites.
- Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-3 on the opening day – they’ve done the double over Leeds four times in the Premier League, with no side doing so more against them (1996-97, 1997-98, 1999-00 and 2002-03).
- Leeds have conceded 52 goals in their 25 Premier League games against Liverpool, more than they have versus any other side in the competition.
- Following their 2-1 win at Man City last time out, Leeds could become just the second side in Premier League history to beat the league leaders and the reigning champions (in either order) in consecutive matches, after Everton in February 2010 (vs Chelsea and Manchester United).
- Leeds have won each of their last three Premier League matches, with the Whites last winning four top-flight games in a row within the same season back in April 2001 (a run of six).
- Liverpool have won three consecutive league games for just the second time this season (also their first three of the campaign in September), coming from behind to beat Aston Villa last time out.
- Liverpool have won five of their last six away league games (L1), more than they had in their previous 15 on the road (W4 D6 L5). The Reds have also won each of their last four Premier League games in Yorkshire, last having a longer winning run in the county in the top-flight between March 1908-October 1909 (5).
- Leeds have both scored and conceded exactly 49 Premier League goals this season – if they score and concede in this game, it will be the joint-second fewest games in which a team has both scored and conceded 50 goals in a single Premier League campaign (Tottenham 30 in 2007-08, QPR 32 in 1994-95).
- No side have scored more Premier League goals from outside the box than Leeds this season (12). Indeed, both of Leeds’ goals against Man City last time out were from outside the box, with both scored by Stuart Dallas from the Whites’ only two shots in the game.
- Mohamed Salah has scored 19 Premier League goals this season – he could become the first Liverpool player to reach 20 in three separate campaigns in the competition (also 2017-18 and 2018-19).
