PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY: The Striker previews Monday’s Premier League clash between LEICESTER v NOTTINGHAM FOREST with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LEICESTER V NOTTINGHAM FOREST
8pm We have Monday Night Football to enjoy from the Premier League on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week, and we have a huge fixture too! The pressure is on here as these two clash sitting in 19th and 20th! The alarm bells are definitely ringing at Leicester, and although they aren’t ringing too loudly now, a loss here would surely see them press the panic button. Brendan Rodgers is certainly a manager under pressure – the problem really and truly is has been the attitude on the pitch has looked terrible. There are definitely signs that Rodgers has lost the dressing room in that sense, and they simply must win here.
Given the situation, this is a very high pressure situation and there’s a lot on the line. After a reasonably impressive start for Nottingham Forest where they got four points from their opening three games, things have started to go badly wrong. While Leicester are under pressure, Nottingham Forest have now got a massive wage bill and they pretty much need to stay up otherwise they are going to get into huge financial trouble. They have added so many players it’s been incredible!
We’re going to have a big debate on the Leicester price here! They are currently trading 1.78, and we’re going to have plenty of opinions on either side of the book. I have to say this is a fascinating situation. Looking at the performances, Nottingham Forest have been playing the better football but both sides clearly have poor results. Coming up from the Championship, you could say Leicester have a bit more class than Forest too. But the thing is with Leicester is their performance level has been so bad it’s hard to make the case for them here at odds.
On paper last season it looked like they had a disappointing season dropping down to 8th after being Top Four contenders for two season, but if you looked at their underlining numbers you will see that they actually over-performed to finish 8th. It could have been much worse, and that’s been reflected this season. They have conceded xG figures of 0.97, 3.15, 1.54, 1.69, 1.10, 3.0 and 1.92 while only creating 0.58, 0.71, 0.32, 1.89, 0.66, 1.14 and 1.72. They’ve been involved in a lot of high scoring games this season mainly because they are gifting goals away. They have conceded 22 goals in total! Nottingham Forest have had similar problems at the back conceding 17 goals, but their performances have been better.
Forest have been “unlucky” on paper to lose against Bournemouth and Fulham before the International break in the sense that they created a bigger xG figure than they conceded, but to be honest they fell apart with a 2-0 lead at half-time against Bournemouth and their heads completely went against Fulham too conceding three goals within six minutes in the early part of the second half. The thing is here though, are Leicester good enough to put them under pressure?
From everything I’m looking at here, I’m happy to be against Leicester at the odds. They just aren’t playing well enough to justify odds of 1.78 in my opinion. Obviously given the level of Forest, I’m not going to have a Max Bet or anything here, but I’m reasonably confident we have a lot of value laying Leicester and three points feels the correct position. A fascinating Monday Night Football ahead!
The Striker Says:
Three points lay (liability) Leicester to beat Nottingham Forest at 1.78 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
