LIVERPOOL V NEWCASTLE

8pm 2024 begins with a bang on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Liverpool hosting Newcastle for Monday Night Football in the Premier League. We’ve had plenty of drama in the history of this fixture, most football fans will remember the Stan Collymore goal in 1996 and Newcastle manage Kevin Keegan slumped behind the billboards as the Liverpool fans went crazy. It would be great to see a 4-3 win for either side here for the drama that would bring, but it is hard to see Newcastle living with this Liverpool side given the form that they are in at the moment.

Liverpool come into the game as the hot favourites. They are trading 1.48 at the time of writing with Newcastle 7.0 and the draw is 5.4. Without playing, it’s already been a reasonably good few days for Liverpool after Arsenal lost 2-0 at home to West Ham on Thursday night. Liverpool are now clear second favourites behind Manchester City in the title race, but you’d still have to fancy Pep Guardiola’s men. While Liverpool have been excellent going forward this season, they are conceding a lot more chances. At the moment though, Jurgen Klopp’s side are slightly getting away with that.

Their average xG conceded is 1.25 which isn’t too bad in fairness, but their actual goals conceded works out at 0.84 which is obviously impressive. Eventually sides will start taking all their chances created – that’s just probability after all – however Liverpool have been so good going forward they can blow any side away. Their average xG created of 2.02 is the joint-best figure in the Premier League with Manchester City. At home that rises to a whopping 2.40 and they have been a lot more solid at the back at Anfield too.

So, a huge task ahead for Newcastle who have been so poor away from home. After getting into the Top Four so quickly after the investment from Saudi Arabia, Newcastle have definitely been brought back down to earth quickly this season. They’re out of Europe after finishing last in their Group and their chances of getting back into the Top Four are pretty much gone given the gap. They don’t create as much as Liverpool, and they concede more. However, the massive worry for Newcastle is their performance level away from home.

They have been conceding more chances than they have been creating away from home. Their average xG conceded away from home is quite high at 1.63 too. That’s not the type of form to bring to Anfield! The loss at home to Nottingham Forest was. abig shock for Newcastle on Boxing Day but I think that reflects that their confidence has definitely taken a knock with this away runs. Losses to Luton Town, Spurs, Everton and Bournemouth and prior to that run two draws against Wolves and West Ham mean Newcastle arrive here without a win in six away Premier League games. I just can’t see past a comfortable Liverpool win here, and at 1.48 I feel the home win is worth a Max Bet here.

The Striker Says:
Five points win Liverpool to beat Newcastle at 1.48 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
