PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews MANCHESTER CITY v BRIGHTON and BOURNEMOUTH v BRENTFORD both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER CITY V BRIGHTON
3pm Another Premier League weekend rolls around on Betdaq Betting Exchange. The focus will be mostly on Wembley this weekend for the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday, but we also head into an International Break after this weekend so hopefully we get plenty of drama to enjoy! We don’t have an early kick off this weekend, so we start the weekend with four games kicking off at 3pm and undoubtedly the highlight fixture is Manchester City hosting Brighton. This is a big game in the Top Four race – the Top Four race is seemingly the only thing to be decided in the Premier League this season with Liverpool almost certain of the title and the bottom three exceptionally unlikely to change. As things stand, City are two points behind Chelsea in fourth, with Brighton a further point behind. Obviously Brighton are outsiders at the moment, but a win here could change that. As I said last weekend before Nottingham Forest beat City, everyone is just expecting Forest to fall out of the Top Four but that win last weekend would have given them a huge boost. It’s quite open now, and thankfully we might see the race go all the way given there’s little else to be decided.
Manchester City come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.73 with Brighton 4.8 and the draw is 4.6 at the time of writing. Both sides have been lacklustre this season, obviously City have been in the headlines for their poor season but Brighton have been a good bit off the pace. Four wins in a row when everyone else was dropping points has got them back into the mix for European spots, but they have been hanging around mid-table the whole season. City have clearly been easier to play against this season though, and given Brighton come into the game with good momentum given their recent run, I wouldn’t be keen taking the 1.73 on City here. Both sides have been sloppy at the back this season – they are both conceding over their average xG conceded figure and we should have an entertaining game here. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.52 so the market is expecting an open game here. Both Teams To Score is a little bigger 1.58 and that looks the better option; City have found it very difficult to keep clean sheets this season, and both sides should get plenty of chances here.

BOURNEMOUTH V BRENTFORD
5.30pm We finish Saturday in the Premier League with Bournemouth hosting Brentford. This is another game that will have an impact on the race for European spots before we head into the International Break. Bournemouth are having a wonderful season, and they are in with a shout of a Europa Conference League spot anyway. They come into this matchday sitting in ninth, but three points behind Manchester City in fifth so there’s plenty of play for. From a point of view of actually getting a European spot; they simply must win games like this. Brentford are sitting in mid-table this season, but they have been conceding chances for fun. Brentford have an average xG conceded of 1.83 this season which is exceptionally big – only Southampton have conceded more chances and they are nailed to the bottom of the table. What has Brentford sitting in mid-table is they are massively over-performing going forward, and sides just haven’t been taking their chances against them either. Brentford have an average xG created of 1.46 but their actual goals scored average is pretty high at 1.71. Bournemouth have been much better at creating chances – their average xG created is 1.72 but they’ve scored one less goal compared to Brentford.
We have a very similar market to the above game. Bournemouth come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.78 with Brentford 4.6 and the draw is 4.3 at the time of writing. I know Brentford are over-performing this season and they deserve credit for getting as many results as they have managed, but it’s hard to see past a Bournemouth win here – they have been playing much better football this season and the 1.78 looks good value. The other bet for consideration has to be Over 2.5 goals; this game screams goals given both sides like to play an open game. Once again we have a very similar market to the above City v Brighton game with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.5. Bournemouth have conceded their fair share of chances too this season – their average xG conceded is 1.53 which is quite high. I do like them in the match odds market, but I’m very happy to back goals here at 1.5. I felt the price would be closer to 1.4 and it’s a confident bet to finish the day.
