SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Sunday’s only match in the Premier League – Aston Villa v West Ham with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ASTON VILLA V WEST HAM
4.30pm We only have one Premier League fixture this Sunday on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Aston Villa take on West Ham. We have a bumper eight fixtures on Saturday with plenty of sides having European commitments midweek. These two will be both in action on Thursday night as well; Aston Villa’s group is wide open with all four sides on three points while West Ham have a 100% record with two wins from two and top their group. We should have a cracking game here; both sides are pretty much at the same level.
Aston Villa come into the game as the favourites with home advantage. They are trading 2.0 at the time of writing with West Ham 3.95 and the draw is 3.9. There’s only two points between them in the Premier League table but the performance level of Aston Villa has been way better. They have made a huge amount of progress going forward under Unai Emery; their average xG created this season is 1.58 and they have been reasonably solid at the back too. At home they are actually conceding an average xG of just under 1.0 which is obviously impressive.
West Ham have been getting results, but there are red flags when you look at their stats. Their average xG conceded is a very high 1.92. Heading into this weekend only Sheffield United had a worse record at the back. They have been exceptionally lucky that sides haven’t taken their chances against them; an average xG conceded of close to 2.0 is relegation standard! They haven’t been as good as Villa going forward either; their average xG created is only 1.32.
West Ham had a huge amount of issues away from home last season, and they hung around the relegation battle at times too. All that was forgotten about when they went on to win the Europa Conference League which was an incredible achievement. However, 12 points away from home last season just isn’t good enough. Their average xG conceded away from home this season is over 2.0 too, so the issues clearly haven’t gone away either. They have had good results, but how long can they keep conceding those chances and get away with it.
I have no strong view on the goals market here. The market is expecting goals because Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.63, but I have to say I much prefer the Aston Villa bet at 2.0. I would expect them to be well backed over the weekend and start the game trading odds on. The West Ham performance level away from home just hasn’t been good enough this season, and Villa are good enough up front to take advantage. The 2.0 is a confident bet.
The Striker Says:
Three points win Aston Villa to beat West Ham at 2.0 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
