MANCHESTER CITY V TOTTENHAM
4.30pm What an incredible week it’s been! Before the kick off time of the Carabao Cup Final this time last week the European Super League hadn’t been announced, and now gone, and Jose Mourinho was manager of Spurs. The European Super League lasted less than 48 hours with Manchester City coming out as one of the first teams to pull out and one has to wonder what was going on behind the scenes for Spurs to sack Jose Mourinho in the week before a big Final. I know football moves fast these days, but could it get any faster than this week!
Regardless of all the drama, we’re set for a fantastic Final between two quality sides. It’s been a busy week of Premier League action and both sides won 2-1 on Wednesday evening, Spurs grinding out a win over Southampton after going behind and City also went 1-0 down early but won 2-1 even with a man sent off in the first half. I was very interested to see what kind of reaction we would get from the Spurs players after Jose Mourinho was sacked but I was a little underwhelmed – to be honest there wasn’t much change, and they conceded an xG of 1.33 to a Southampton side who have been on a pretty poor run lately.
I’m sure Manchester City will have a lot of fans at 1.5 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange , and you can include me in the that group. Spurs have been all over the place this season – remember when they were “title challengers” for a few weeks at the start of the season, then they went all the way down to mid-table, then Jose seemed to turn it around and now they are back to trying to get into the Europa League with Harry Kane saying he’s leaving in the summer if they don’t get into the Champions League! Behind the scenes must have been very bad to sack Mourinho, and there was probably a little bit of bitterness in it too not giving him the chance to win a trophy for Spurs after it’s been so long since they won anything.
When you compare Spurs to Man City, they are levels apart. City have been excellent since around Christmas time and they haven’t let up since. They would have been very disappointed to lose to Chelsea in the FA Cup here recently but Chelsea are a better side than Spurs and the 1.5 on City just looks too big here. They are a far more settled side than Spurs, and with Spurs giving away a lot of chances recently it’s hard to see how City don’t take advantage of that. The 1.5 is big enough for a Max Bet for me, as I can’t see past City winning this game.
