BRENTFORD V CRYSTAL PALACE

2pm It’s the first Super Sunday of the Premier League season on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! It might be a little bit of an underwhelming start with Brentford hosting Crystal Palace, but all eyes will be on Chelsea v Manchester City as the highlight fixture of the weekend later! Although Brentford v Crystal Palace might not be the most glamorous fixture to start the day, it is a fascinating market. We have a very open betting heat with Brentford coming in as the favourites at 2.52 with Crystal Palace 3.0 and the draw is 3.55 at the time of writing. Brentford had a very disappointing season finishing down in 16th last season. At times, they weren’t too far away from being dragged into a relegation battle too. Their games were very entertaining, but they were conceding far too many chances. Crystal Palace had a rollercoaster of a season – they played very average football at times and unfortunately Roy Hodgson had to step aside as manager due to ill health. That was a sad way to end his time at the club because he really did give them so much over the years. However, Oliver Glasner came in and had them playing superb football.

Crystal Palace suddenly became the form team at the end of the Premier League season. They won six of their last seven Premier League games – they beat Liverpool 1-0 away from home, tonked West Ham, Manchester United and Aston Villa by three or more goals each time too. I wouldn’t even look at their overall figures from last season because the way they were playing at the end the averages would be irrelevant. If anything, it was a surprise that Palace were able to hold onto Glasner over the summer – it will be interesting to see what kind of performance we get here and can they continue where they finished. I have to say I was very surprised to see Brentford as clear favourites when I clicked into the market. I know we have an open betting heat, but I would have it even more open – I’d have Brentford bigger with the draw and Crystal Palace trading shorter. From a value point of view I’m very happy with the Brentford lay here; I feel it’s a cracking position.

The Striker Says:
Three points lay (liability) Brentford to beat Crystal Palace at 2.52 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE

CHELSEA V MANCHESTER CITY

4.30pm We finish Super Sunday with undoubtedly the highlight of the Premier League weekend! There was no doubt Chelsea hosting Manchester City wouldn’t take up the prime Sunday TV slot when they announced the opening Matchday 1 fixtures and we should have a cracker. The last few weeks have mostly been about what’s been happening off the pitch for these two clubs; Chelsea have been spending massive amounts of money and signing a lot of players – their squad is huge now. For Manchester City, everything is going to be about those 115 charges hanging over them and the latest update is that a hearing is now set for September. Whether we actually hear news about what happens in that hearing is another question. Nevertheless, we know what to expect from Pep Guardiola and his side on the pitch – they have been faultless and they are aiming for a record five Premier League titles in a row. It’s hard to see them not doing that too, unless of course they get a point deduction. From a Chelsea point of view; once again we start the season with a. host of question marks – they have a new manager (again) and so many new players things will surely take time to bed in. It will be interesting to see can they go toe-to-toe with City here.

As you would expect, Manchester City come into the game as the favourites at 1.87 with Chelsea 4.3 and the draw is 4.1 at the time of writing. Although it wasn’t surprising given the way Chelsea behave, Mauricio Pochettino seemed to have Chelsea heading in the right direction after a poor start last season. They finished the season with the fifth best attacking figure, and they only lost once in their last 15 Premier League games. They actually took points off City twice last season; we had an incredible 4-4 draw here and then 1-1 in Manchester. The market is expecting goals again here with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.56 and Both Teams To Score is the same price. I’m going to keep stakes low here because obviously it’s hard to know what to expect from this Chelsea side given all the changes over the summer, but we generally get an open and entertaining game between these two. I feel Both Teams To Score looks a nice position at 1.56 in what should be an end-to-end game.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Both Teams To Score at 1.56 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
