PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: The Striker previews WOLVES v CHELSEA and LIVERPOOL v BRENTFORD both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
WOLVES V CHELSEA
2pm We have another fascinating Super Sunday from the Premier League on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! There’s something for everyone with an odds on favourite with plenty of question marks and then a very short home favourite. We start the day with Wolves hosting Chelsea, and although Chelsea come into this game as the odds on favourites I’m sure they will be a popular lay this weekend. Chelsea are trading 1.8 with Wolves 4.7 and the draw is 4.3 at the time of writing. Both these sides started their season last week with a loss, however you can easily forgive Chelsea losing to Manchester City and Wolves losing to Arsenal. I know when Chelsea have home advantage they aren’t expected to lose, but the reality is there’s a huge gulf in class between the top three and the likes of Chelsea now. Serious questions have to be asked about the transfer business this summer – the squad is absolutely massive and then obviously another change in manager at the end of last season doesn’t help either. It all just feels like no one is in charge at Chelsea – or at least whoever is actually in charge doesn’t have a plan! We do have an interesting market here; confidence is obviously low around Chelsea at the moment but Wolves are a very, very average side.
It’s hard to make a case to support Wolves in the market. As I said above, Chelsea will be a popular lay this week because of what’s going on at the club but I have to say I thought the 1.8 was on the big side when I clicked into the market. Wolves finished last season with the joint-third worst attacking figure in the Premier League – only Sheffield United and Luton Town created less chances. They were also in the bottom six for chances conceded too; there’s a huge amount of red flags around Wolves heading into this season, I’d expect them to perform poorly but avoid relegation. Chelsea do have this fixture in between their Europa Conference League qualifier, and they did name a stronger than expect XI in that on Thursday night. While I do feel the jury is definitely out on Chelsea, I also feel they should have enough to beat Wolves here – the 1.8 is a little too big in my opinion but given Chelsea do need time for the new players to gel together etc, I’m keen to keep stakes low. I’m happy to take the 1.8, but this isn’t one to go mad on stakes wise.

LIVERPOOL V BRENTFORD
4.30pm We finish the Premier League weekend with one of the shortest prices of the weekend as Liverpool host Brentford. Liverpool are trading as short as 1.26 at the time of writing with Brentford 12.0 and the draw is 7.6. That 1.26 isn’t the shortest price of the weekend, that title goes to Manchester City at home to newly promoted Ipswich whom Liverpool beat on the opening weekend. Talk about a baptism of fire after getting promoted! Brentford also started their season with a win, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 with home advantage. That was a decent win for Brentford, especially considering they had such a poor season last season – you got the feeling that they really needed a good start this season. Their performance was a little average; they did concede more chances than they created. There’s a huge gulf in class between the sides here – it’s hard to see past a comfortable Liverpool win. No prizes for tipping 1.26 shots however I wouldn’t put anyone off including Liverpool in their weekend Acca – I feel it’s a case of how many goals can they score rather than will they win.
With Liverpool trading so short in the match odds market, we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value. Arne Slot gave an excellent interview after the Ipswich win – he was probably too honest – we aren’t used to that in the Premier League! It took Liverpool a while to break down Ipswich, and it will be interesting to see what kind of tactics Brentford go with here. I don’t think it’s in their nature to put XI men behind the ball; they conceded a host of chances and goals last season. The market is expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals trading as short as 1.37; I don’t see any value in that price to be honest. It’s also expecting Liverpool to do most of the work there, because Both Teams To Score is 1.77 which I feel offers some value. We should have a very open and end-to-end game here, and I feel Brentford can get on the score sheet at some stage with Liverpool winning. Brentford games were some of the most entertaining games last season, and this could have plenty of chances and goals too.
