FA CUP THURSDAY: The Striker previews EVERTON v PETERBOROUGH UNITED with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
EVERTON V PETERBOROUGH UNITED
7.45pm The FA Cup Third Round kicks off on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! We have three fixtures on Thursday night, and in my opinion Everton v Peterborough United looks the pick of them. Most football fans will expect Everton to get through here, and indeed they come into the game as the long odds on favourites. Everton are trading 1.3 with Peterborough United 11.0 and the draw is 6.0 at the time of writing. Everton don’t start many games as short as 1.3 these days!
While there’s an obvious massive gulf in class here, I do feel this fixture is quite interesting given Everton have really struggled to score goals this season. 15 goals from their 19 Premier League games is a pretty woeful return to be honest – only Southampton have managed to score less. While the three sides that came up from the Championship are really struggling this season, Everton are still in danger of getting heavily into the relegation battle. Recent wins for Ipswich and Wolves will definitely pile on the pressure too. It’ll be an interesting few weeks for Everton – Ipswich and Wolves are only one point behind now.
Peterborough United are struggling as well. They sit down in 19th in League One, and while they have more cushion on the relegation zone compared to Everton, obviously the standard is much lower so you have to wonder how poor do Everton need to perform here. Peterborough have been exceptionally poor at the back too; they have the third worst average xG conceded in League One and they have been sloppy as well. They’ve conceded the most amount of goals in League One this season.
With Everton so short in the match odds market, we’re going to have to look around the side markets for some value here. It’s going to be an interesting game in the goal and handicap markets in my opinion – we have a side who is massively struggling to score goals against a side who are massively struggling at the back. It will be interesting to see what kind of XI Everton name too; surely they have to go with a strong XI given their recent woes. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.5 and I feel this is the best option – Everton have been conceding a decent level of chances in the Premier League, and you just know Peterborough will give up a lot of chances too. This is definitely a game for small stakes, but I’m happy with Overs in what should be a game with plenty of mistakes.
