Tottenham’s Carabao Cup round three game at Leyton Orient has been called off due to positive coronavirus tests at the League Two club.
6pm We have another week of Carabao Cup action to enjoy and we kick things off with Leyton Orient hosting Spurs. With a busy fixture list, it’s fair to assume we’ll see a lot of changes from the starting XI for Spurs at the weekend, but they should still get the job done here against a Leyton Orient side who finished in the bottom half of League Two last season. 202 has been a crazy year, and news broke yesterday that “a number” of Leyton Orient first team players tested positive of Covid19. So we may not even see their best XI.
Spurs fans have already had a rollercoaster ride this season. They were beaten on the opening weekend and must have been feeling pretty negative a 1-0 down against Southampton at the weekend. They were playing very poorly too! They turned it around with five goals on the spin and suddenly, along with the signing of Bale, Spurs fans are on a high again. Tonight won’t be very important to them, but they won’t want to go backwards. Given the situation with a lot of changes and possibly Leyton Orient being weaker than usual, I’m happy to have a small investment on over 2.5 goals here. Spurs games always look like having loads of goals and Leyton Orient games have been filled with goals lately. 1.6 is worth a small bet on overs.

MATCH STATS
- This is the first meeting between Leyton Orient and Tottenham since the 2000-01 FA Cup third round, when Spurs won 1-0 at Brisbane Road thanks to Gary Doherty’s 90 th minute strike.
- Spurs have eliminated Leyton Orient in both of their previous League Cup meetings, doing so over two legs in both 1980-81 (4-1 on aggregate) and 1985-86 (4-2 on aggregate).
- Leyton Orient are looking to reach the fourth round of the League Cup for the first time since 1962-63. The O’s have won just two of their 33 matches against top-flight sides in the competition (D8 L23) – against Aston Villa in their last such match in 2014-15, and the other against Spurs in 1985-86.
- Spurs were eliminated by League Two Colchester in the League Cup third round last season – they have not been knocked out by a side from a lower division in consecutive campaigns since 2000-01.
- Tottenham’s Harry Kane made his first ever start in senior football at Brisbane Road, scoring in a 4-0 win for Leyton Orient against Sheffield Wednesday in a League One match in January 2011.
LUTON TOWN V MANCHESTER UNITED
8.15pm All eyes will be on Manchester United here after a loss in their Premier League opening game at the weekend. After finishing last season so strongly, hopes were obviously high but they have come crashing back down to earth! The worst part from a United point of view is that they didn’t even play well. They deserved to lose. Maybe not by two goals, but they certainly didn’t deserve to win. Palace won the game on xG 1.82 to 1.32 and that has to be a massive worry for United going forward. They might not be tested tonight, indeed we probably won’t see most of their first XI, but if they don’t improve from Saturday then they won’t be able to finish in the Top Four.
I have to say, I’m surprise to see United so short at 1.32. Luton are a mid-to-lower placed Championship side who should be outclassed here really, but United still shouldn’t be as short as 1.32. From a value point of view, I’m happy to have a small investment on the United lay. I expect Luton to put up a better effort than odds of 1.32 suggest and we could see a pretty close game.
