TUESDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews MANCHESTER CITY v BRENTFORD including a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MANCHESTER CITY V BRENTFORD
7.30pm We have midweek Premier League action to enjoy on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! Manchester City host Brentford on Tuesday in a must win game for Pep Guardiola’s men after dropping points at the weekend against Chelsea. That 1-1 draw here has left City four points behind Liverpool at the top of the table – this is effectively their game in hand, however Liverpool play Luton Town on Wednesday night before they have to play the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.
The game in hand situation will sort itself out by the weekend, and a win here will leave City just one point behind Liverpool for the time being at least. City were trading odds on to lift the title, however they have crept out to slightly odds against now; I’m sure there’s plenty of drama left in the title race this season! City and Liverpool have both been absolutely exceptional going forward – they both have average xG created figures of over 2.0 but Arsenal have (marginally) the best defensive figure this season. That’s why there’s a lot of pundits picking Arsenal this season, although they did buckle on the run-in last season.
City will be fully expected to win here, and they come into the game as the red-hot favourites. The home win is trading 1.21 at the time of writing with Brentford 17.0 and the draw is 8.4. Brentford lost again at the weekend, but they were playing Liverpool. Results against Liverpool and Man City aren’t going to have a major impact on whether they stay up or not, but they are in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle. They are too close for comfort at the moment anyway, and they have been so sloppy at the back too.
Brentford’s average xG conceded is 1.6 this season but they have actually been conceding close to two goals per game. Sloppy is the right word for them at the back, and they play such an open game too. It’s always worrying when any side plays an open game against City as they usually just pick you apart. Brentford have lost eight of their last ten Premier League games, and one of those was a 3-1 loss to City when they had home advantage. City absolutely bossed that game – I feel this is a case of how many goals City are going to score rather then will they win.
I have to say I was surprised to see City trading as high as 1.59 to cover the 1.5 goal Handicap. Another very appealing bet is City -2.5 goals at 2.49 which looks very high too. Brentford have been conceding goals for fun recently, and they face such a good attacking team here I can’t see them stopping City. I do expect an open game and it’ll probably be a very entertaining one too, but the 1.59 on City -1.5 goals looks the standout bet here.
The Striker Says:
Three points win Manchester City -1.5 goals to beat Brentford at 1.59 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
