TUESDAY EFL CUP: The Striker previews Tuesday’s EFL Cup game between NORWICH v LIVERPOOL with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
NORWICH V LIVERPOOL
7.45pm The third round of the Carabao Cup kicks off on Tuesday and Norwich v Liverpool is the choice of Sky Sports! These two have already met in the Premier League on the opening weekend, but it’s fair to assume we will see a very different Liverpool side here. That obviously makes the game more interesting from a betting point of view on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, and another big question to answer is what type of side Norwich will name. At this stage of the season, I don’t see any reason why Norwich would rest their best players but a lot of average Premier League sides seem to do so.
Although Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners away to Norwich on the opening day of the season, the game was a little closer than the final score line. Liverpool deserved to win, but Norwich created an xG of 1.81 and should have scored once or twice. Norwich have had a very tough start to the season – they had to play Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester and Arsenal in their first four fixtures. It was always likely they would lose those four games, and to their credit they didn’t play that badly. They should have drawn against Leicester and they played well against Liverpool. My biggest worry is the loss at home to Watford at the weekend, but that 3-1 loss was a very fair reflection of the performance too.
Depending on how many star players Liverpool choose to rest, I can see this game being closer than the odds suggest on Liverpool. I’m happy to keep stakes low because I’m unsure of the teams and that is the shrewd thing to do – for example Norwich could choose to rest players too – but Liverpool look too short at 1.66 in my opinion.
It’s hard not to see a host of changes here, but Norwich should play better than expected with home advantage a nice boost too. I know they have started the season slowly, but their performances haven’t been that bad and they have a decent chance of a result here – better than the odds suggest in my opinion. This is definitely a game for small stakes.
