PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews IPSWICH v CRYSTAL PALACE and LEICESTER v WEST HAM both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
IPSWICH V CRYSTAL PALACE
7.30pm The Premier League fixtures just keep coming on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as we have a full midweek fixture list! There’s no doubt that Arsenal v Manchester United is the highlight fixture this week which takes place on Wednesday night, but we have a massive night at the bottom of the table on Tuesday. We kick the week off with Ipswich hosting Crystal Palace, and along with Leicester playing tonight we have three of the bottom five playing. Palace moved out of the relegation zone at the weekend with a draw against Newcastle – we actually landed a nice bet on the draw at 3.65 in that game – that’s only one loss from the last five Premier League games for Palace, and after a terrible start to the season they are starting to get results. They are still struggling up front – they actually have a mid-table average xG created, but they just aren’t converting their chances. Only Everton and Southampton have a worse goal scoring record this season. If Palace start converting their chances they will move up the table, and I wouldn’t be overly concerned about them going down this season based on their performance levels – they want to get away from the relegation zone as fast as possible though!
Ipswich do look short of Premier League standard this season. They have the worst attacking figure, and they are conceding a lot of chances too – although they aren’t in the bottom five defensive figures. We have a very open betting heat here, and Crystal Palace come into the game as the favourites. Crystal Palace are trading 2.6 with Ipswich 2.98 and the draw is 3.5 at the time of writing. There isn’t much to be confident on with regards to Ipswich this season, but to their credit they are staying within touching distance of the others, unlike Southampton. Getting results in games like this will be absolutely vital to staying up, and while I am worried about Palace not taking their chances, they have been playing much better football this season compared to Ipswich. I’m keen to keep stakes low on what should be a tight game – there isn’t much quality up front on display here – but I’m happy to take the 2.6 on Palace. I’d have them a little shorter to get the three points.

LEICESTER V WEST HAM
8.15pm We finish Tuesday night with another game that’s going to have an impact on the relegation battle as Leicester host West Ham. Leicester were always up against it this season – there’s a huge gulf in class between the Premier League and the Championship these days – and the three sides who came up were always likely to be the three to go down. They’ve decided to hit the panic button early in the season and sack their manager – they have acted very quickly and Ruud van Nistelrooy has been announced. It will be fascinating to see how that goes, and it will be also fascinating to see do we get a “new manager bounce” from the squad here. While Leicester aren’t sitting in the relegation zone at the moment, they remain one of the hot favourites for relegation based on their performance level. They are in the bottom three on attacking figures, and bottom three on defensive figures. Put everything together and they are the second worst performing side in the Premier League – we need to see more, and Leicester could definitely do with that “new manager bounce” everyone talks about. If we don’t get that, it’s hard to see them staying up.
Despite all the problems for Leicester this season, this is an interesting game because West Ham haven’t been playing well either. They have a mid-table average xG created figure, but they are still conceding a high volume of chances as they did last season. We have another open betting heat here – West Ham are the favourites at 2.66 with Leicester 2.88 and the draw is 3.6 at the time of writing. It’s hard to have faith in either side here – they are both conceding a high volume of goals this season – they are both in the bottom three for goals against this season! I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here because this game screams goals in my opinion. I know both sides are reasonably limited in attacking, but a mistake at the back won’t be far away here right throughout the game – Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.8 and I feel that offers fantastic value. It’s worth a Five Star NAP for me!
