CRYSTAL PALACE V ASTON VILLA

7.30pm We have a busy week in the Premier League with a full fixture list on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We start Tuesday with three fixtures kicking off at 7-30pm, and easily the pick of them is Crystal Palace hosting Aston Villa in my opinion. Villa have had a good run of things over the past week – a 2-2 draw with Liverpool was followed up with a decent 2-1 win over Chelsea. That win over Chelsea broke a five game run without a win in the Premier League, and given Rashford made a few assists in his opening games, there’s a lot for Aston Villa fans to get excited about for the second half of the season. They got a very good draw in the Champions League; Club Brugge in the Last 16 is one of the best draws you could ask for at that stage. It is fascinating to see how the Rashford situation works out at Villa – he clearly wasn’t putting the work in at Manchester United. Despite all the noise around Villa at the moment, if you just look at the stats there really isn’t much between these sides. Crystal Palace clearly make less headlines, but they’ve been playing the same football this season.

Crystal Palace have an average xG created of 1.43 this season, which is marginally over Aston Villa at 1.4. There’s very little between the sides at the back too – Crystal Palace have ab average xG conceded 1.42 and Villa are marginally better than that at 1.38. It’s not a surprise then to see such an open market – Crystal Palace come into the game as the favourites at 2.64 with Aston Villa 2.92 and the draw is 3.5 at the time of writing. Palace have been tough to beat lately – only three losses in their last 15 Premier League games. All three of those losses came here though; you can forgive the Arsenal one but obviously Brentford and Everton are disappointing results. Although David Moyes has Everton flying again! These two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the start of that run for Palace, and I have to say I was surprised to see the draw trading as high as 3.5. Both sides are very evenly matched, and even allowing for the fact we have an open market, I would have it even more open with the draw shorter.

CHELSEA V SOUTHAMPTON

8.15pm We have the shortest price of the midweek fixture list to finish Tuesday night as Chelsea host Southampton. Chelsea have been going through a tough time lately, but surely they will get the job done here with Southampton nailed on to go down. The Saints have been miles off the required Premier League standard this season; just nine points from 26 games. With Ipswich and Leicester also in the relegation zone, the debate this weekend was around bridging the gap between the Premier League and the Championship. I’m not sure how that is actually done given the money in the Premier League these days – for any side coming up you know they have an exceptionally difficult task staying up. My only recommendation would be to play ugly football – the promoted sides tend to try and play a Guardiola style when in reality they should be making themselves as tough to beat as possible. Chelsea come into this game as the red-hot favourites at 1.23 with Southampton 14.5 and the draw is 8.0 at the time of writing. Even though there’s a huge gulf in class between the sides here, I wouldn’t be rushing to back Chelsea at such short odds.

Another loss at the weekend meant their record went to just two wins in their last ten Premier League games. Those wins did come here though, and in fairness Southampton are the worst side in the Premier League this season. Chelsea should get the job done here – there’s no getting away from that – but the 1.23 doesn’t jump off the page as a bet you’d want to put in your midweek Acca given Chelsea’s form lately. Southampton have been woeful at the back – their average xG conceded is up to 1.90 now – that’s the worst defensive figure in the Premier League. In recent weeks it’s felt like they’ve thrown in the towel – another four goals shipped at the weekend at home and then the 3-1 loss to Bournemouth prior to that. Apart from the 2-1 win at Ipswich, also in the relegation zone, Southampton have been leaking goals for fun. With Chelsea also conceding goals, Over 3.5 goals looks a nice option at 1.83 – it allows for the Chelsea hammering or Southampton scoring and making it interesting!

One point win Over 3.5 goals at 1.83 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
