WEST HAM V BRIGHTON
7.30pm The Premier League action continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with West Ham hosting Brighton on Tuesday night. This is the last Premier League fixture before we head into an FA Cup weekend for the Third Round, and we have an open market. West Ham are the favourites with home advantage at 2.5 with Brighton 2.94 and the draw is 3.75 at the time of writing. This should be a fascinating game – both sides have their pros and cons this season!
Both sides had superb wins last Thursday night with West Ham beating Arsenal 2-0 and Brighton winning 4-2 against Spurs. That was a much needed win for Brighton – they have still be creating a good volume of chances but they’ve only managed three wins from their last 13 Premier League games. That’s a very long run of average results for a side who have an average xG created of 1.76. That’s the fifth best attacking figure in the Premier League, and their average xG created at home is over 2.0 too; they should have won more games already this season.
West Ham have been the opposite. They have an average xG conceded of 1.74 which is the third worst defensive figure in the Premier League. Sides haven’t been taking their chances against the Hammers though, and they are also massively over-performing in front of goal too. Their average xG created is just 1.15 but their actual goals scored works out at 1.74. That’s a huge difference, and why they sit so high in the table despite playing pretty average football at times. They still deserve huge credit for getting so many results though; however eventually they have to stop scoring from awkward angles. David Moyes got offered a new two-year contract; I’d have that signed within five minutes!
You can obviously pick a lot of holes in West Ham; they clearly concede a lot of chances and they are up against one of the best attacking sides in the Premier League here too. Brighton also concede a lot of chances, and Brighton actually haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season. 19 games without a clean sheet is quite the red flag, but Brighton do play a very open and attacking games. I’m not surprised that we have a very open market here, and it’s hard to be confident in either side in my opinion.
The bet I really like is Both Teams To Score at 1.59. Brighton’s goal record this season is obviously incredible – Both Teams To Score has collected in all but one of Brighton’s Premier League games this season. That was a 2-0 loss away to Arsenal. Over 2.5 goals is also tempting at a few ticks higher at 1.66, but Both Teams To Score jumps off the page here. West Ham are clearly in red-hot form in front of goal, have home advantage and both sides like to play an open game with issues at the back. At 1.59 I feel we’re getting enough value to have a Max Bet.
