WYCOMBE WANDERERS V ASTON VILLA

8pm The Carabao Cup Third Round continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week. The fixtures were split over two weeks to allow for teams to compete in the new Champions League, and we have some very interesting markets this week. Sky Sports have picked Wycombe Wanderers v Aston Villa as their main game on Tuesday, and I’m happy to focus on that. Aston Villa will be fully expected to win here given the gulf in class between the sides, and they come into the game as the red-hot favourites. Aston Villa are trading 1.32 with Wycombe Wanderers 10.5 and the draw is 6.2 at the time of writing.

This is the third time that the sides have met in the League Cup, and the home side will be hoping for better fortune – they shipped 13 goals in the last two meetings! It will be interesting to see what side Unai Emery names here – this is Villa’s first season in the Champions League and obviously they have a lot more fixture commitments than usual. In terms of chances to rest players, Emery won’t get a better one. Obviously resting players is always a big risk, but Villa have made an excellent start to the Champions League and Premier League – that’s where the full focus is going to be at the moment.

Wycombe are sitting in mid-table in League One with ten points from their six games. That’s where they finished last season too, and I don’t see anything in their stats that will trouble Villa. Their average xG created is 1.33 – they are over-performing in front of goal at the moment. Their average xG conceded too is quite high at 1.6 – that’s actually the joint-second worst defensive figure in League One and you have to wonder if Wycombe are conceding that level of chances against League One sides, what will they concede against Villa?

It’s no surprise here to see Villa as the red-hot favourites. There’s no prizes for tipping 1.32 shots, but I would recommend adding Villa to any midweek acca this week. We’ll have to look around the side markets for some value though, and I feel Villa can cover the handicap here. They are trading 1.69 to cover the 1.5 goal handicap which looks a nice position. I’m keen to keep stakes low here given we might see some changes to the usual Villa starting XI, but they can get the job done in style.

The Striker Says:
One point win Aston Villa -1.5 goals to beat Wycombe Wanderers at 1.69 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
