ARSENAL V CRYSTAL PALACE

7.30pm The Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals kick off on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! We have three fixtures Tuesday night, and Arsenal hosting Crystal Palace looks the highlight – indeed, that is the choice of Sky Sports too. We have an interesting market here; no doubt most football fans will expect Arsenal to win but Crystal Palace have been getting a lot of results lately after a poor start to the season. Arsenal come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.45 with Crystal Palace 8.8 and the draw is 5.0 at the time of writing.

One thing to note coming into this week is that team selection might be a big market mover. The Premier League sides are going to have a very hectic Christmas and New Year period as always, and it will be interesting to see what managers decide to do with squad rotation. Usually the Carabao Cup is down the pecking order when sides have a hectic fixture list. I don’t see Crystal Palace resting anyone here to be honest, but for Arteta and Arsenal it might be a different story. This is definitely one of those games where you want to have the market open when they announce the team news.

It was a dramatic weekend in the Premier League, and Arsenal will feel like it was a massive opportunity missed. Whatever about Manchester City dropping more points with another loss – Liverpool drew 2-2 away to Fulham. It was a terrible start, they were a goal and a man down quite quickly – Arsenal were at home to Everton and couldn’t get the job done. They played well but couldn’t convert any of their chances, and Everton grinded out a 0-0 win. Arsenal losing their attacking flare this season has definitely been a criticism thrown at Arteta this season – we’ve had quotes like “he’s turning into Jose Mourinho” when he takes the lead, and he’s turning quite risk adverse.

At the start of this season, you could see quite clearly on the xG figures that Arsenal were conceding a lot more chances compared to last season. Perhaps in an attempt to fix those issues, he’s taken away from the attack. It will obviously be interesting to see how they approach this game – in my opinion the 1.45 feels a little short. Palace have been on a good run lately; they’ve only lost once in their last eight Premier League games and they had a very nice 3-1 win away to Brighton on Sunday too. I feel they can make this closer than the odds suggest, and from a value point of view I’m happy with a small Arsenal lay.

The Striker Says:
One point lay (liability) Arsenal to beat Crystal Palace at 1.45 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
