PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews BRENTFORD v ARSENAL in the Premier League with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BRENTFORD V ARSENAL
5.30pm 2025 begins on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Premier League action as Brentford host Arsenal in the only game of New Year’s Day! With these two clubs not having to play over the weekend, they had a nice break after playing on the 27th. With Chelsea dropping points and Manchester City already out of the title race, it’s been a reasonably good Christmas period for Arsenal – they just have to chase down Liverpool now which does seem a very unlikely outcome but when you look at the Outright betting it seems a two horse race now.
Brentford are having a decent season in mid-table, and their games have been very entertaining. They somehow ended up with a 0-0 against Brighton over the Christmas period, but they still conceded an xG of over 2.0! Conceding chances has been a massive problem for Brentford this season – their average xG conceded is as high as 1.87 which was actually the worst defensive figure in the Premier League coming into this matchday. What has them sitting in mid-table is they are over-performing up front. Their average xG created is 1.30, but their actual goals scored average is much higher at 1.78.
Brentford have been scoring what they are conceding this season, but once they stop scoring from awkward angles and their goals fall more in line with their xG, then they will be in trouble. It’s no surprise to see Arsenal as the odds on favourites here – Arteta has seemingly fixed the issues at the back too that saw them drop plenty of points early in the season. Those fixes did come at a cost going forward – they only have the fifth best attacking figure now which isn’t as impressive as last season. Nevertheless, this is a game that Arsenal will be expected to win. Arsenal are trading 1.48 with Brentford 7.0 and the draw is 5.3 at the time of writing.
Arsenal have definitely steadied the ship at the back – their average xG conceded is now down to 1.10 and that’s the second best defensive figure in the Premier League – it was up towards 1.30. I couldn’t put anyone off backing Arsenal at 1.48 here, but with the volume of chances that Brentford are conceding this season I think we’ll see an impressive win. At around 2.2 -1.5 goals, Arsenal look cracking value to cover the handicap on their way to winning here. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they scored four or more goals here – Any Other Away Win is trading around 5.0 and that could be a nice option too.
The Striker Says:
Three points win Arsenal -1.5 goals to beat Brentford at 2.2 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
