THE STRIKER: previews the Championship playoff semi-final 2nd leg between BRENTFORD v SWANSEA with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended match stats.
BRENTFORD V SWANSEA
7.45pm It’s crunch time as Brentford host Swansea in the second leg of their Championship Playoff. Swansea caused a little surprise on Sunday evening when winning 1-0 and they must be full of confidence. They face a tough challenge here tonight, however after getting into the Playoffs with a huge turnaround on the final day and then winning, they must be on cloud nine. Brentford have the hard work to do, and have now lost three games in a row.
I must say I called the first leg wrong as I thought Brentford would outclass this Swansea side; however we saw something different on the pitch. Brentford can have no complaints with the result, losing the game 1.86 to 1.07 on xG. You could see a cagey and low scoring affair coming, but I thought Brentford could grind out a result.
Swansea have only won 8 of their 23 away games in the Championship this season which has to be a huge worry for them coming into this fixture. I can’t help but lay Brentford at the odds though after seeing the first leg. 1.67 looks at least ten ticks too low here with Swansea full of confidence.
Sometimes these positions can be tricky for the team leading – do they attack or defend their lead? I feel with the way Swansea have come into this game, with the incredible turnaround on the final day and a win at the weekend, they will go for the attacking option. And although they haven’t got a good away record, the Brentford lay is very much worth a small investment at the odds.
The Striker Says:
One point lay Brentford at 1.67 with BETDAQ Exchange.
