5.30pm We have the final action before Christmas as the last two Carabao Cup Quarter Finals take place on Wednesday evening. We have two fascinating matches and markets to go with them on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.. We start with Stoke hosting Spurs in what was once an all Premier League clash. It’s fair to say that Stoke have been very average since going down to the Championship, maybe this season can be their best as they sit in 7th after 20 games. They will view this as a good time to play Spurs with them having a mini crisis after losing their last two and drawing with Crystal Palace prior to that.
Jose Mourinho questioned his played again in the press after losing 2-0 to Leicester at the weekend. We’ve said this before but that can go both ways. Last time he did it they responded very well but the more he does it the more drama it can cause. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of react he gets this evening. On balance, I feel Spurs have been excellent this season. They were unlucky to lose in the last few minutes against Liverpool too and this is a great chance for them to get back to winning ways against an average Stoke side. Spurs are worth backing at 1.54.

- The only previous League Cup meeting between Stoke City and Spurs was in September 2011, a goalless draw with the Potters winning 7-6 on penalties to progress.
- Spurs have won their last five games against Stoke, winning all five in the Premier League between April 2016 and April 2018 – four of those wins were by a four-goal margin.
- Stoke City are looking to reach the League Cup semi-final as a non-top-flight club for the first time – they have progressed three times previously to that stage, each time as a top-flight team in 1963/64, 1971/72 and 2015/16.
- This is Spurs’ 25th League Cup quarter-final, with only London rivals Arsenal appearing in more (29, including this season). They have progressed from their last two ties at this stage, in 2014/15 vs Newcastle and 2018/19 vs Arsenal.

They are also the first side to have started in the first round and reached the League Cup quarter-final without conceding since Colchester United in 1974/75.
- Spurs’ last three League Cup ties have all gone to a penalty shootout (W1 L2) – the only team to be involved in a shootout in four consecutive League Cup matches were Leicester between September 2018 and August 2019.
EVERTON V MANCHESTER UNITED
8pm This is my highlight of the Quarter Finals. They have kept the best for last! It will be interesting to see what kind of starting XI we get here given the busy Christmas and New Year period coming up. United have moved themselves into an excellent position in the Premier League, however that’s probably more of a case of everyone else dropping points rather than United playing excellent football. Everton have already had a very up-and-down season but they did well to beat the struggling Arsenal at the weekend. They are hanging on to their top four spot heading into Christmas.
Everton have actually had three nice wins in a row against Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal. They can have a go at this United side with confidence. United banged in six at the weekend but they also keep conceding goals. If Everton can stop them going forward than they’ll have a great chance to win the game. United do have major issues at the back, and they will need to be sorted before anyone starts calling them title challengers. For me Everton are worth a small bet at a good value price of 3.4 in what should be a close game.
