CARABAO CUP SEMI-FINAL WEDNESDAY: The Striker previews CHELSEA v ARSENAL with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CHELSEA V ARSENAL
8pm We have the second Carabao Cup Semi-Final on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Chelsea and Arsenal clash on Wednesday night! It’s usually at this stage of the tournament that the big sides start taking the Carabao Cup seriously, but you have to feel that this is a massive tie for Chelsea given their situation. They parted ways with Enzo Maresca and he was replaced quite quickly by Liam Rosenior – he’s already under immense pressure. It will be interesting to see how he gets on, and how long he will be given!
Apparently while at Strasbourg, Rosenior got multiple approaches from Premier League clubs. He obviously has his hands full – Chelsea have only managed one win in their last nine Premier League games. They had a smooth 5-1 win at the weekend in the FA Cup over Charlton, but obviously there was a big gulf in class there. Arsenal also had a smooth win at the weekend, beating Portsmouth 4-1 away from home. It will be interesting to see the tactics from Arteta here given they have the second leg at home – we saw once again how cagey he is with the Arsenal performance at home to Liverpool. They almost played for a draw; they started the game as 1.6 favourites.
Arsenal come into this clash as the favourites at 2.34 with Chelsea 3.4 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. The sides met here on November 30th in the Premier League, and at the time Chelsea went into that game as the main title challengers to Arsenal – Liverpool and Manchester City had already dropped plenty of points and Chelsea sat second. The sides played out a 1-1 draw, and afterwards Chelsea lost 3-1 to Leeds – it was almost like their title challenge was over the minute we started talking about it. That draw against Arsenal started their run of just one win from nine Premier League games.
Obviously Chelsea are going through a few changes at the moment with the new manager, and I do feel I want to keep stakes small here – especially with this being a first leg. In my opinion, Arsenal at 2.34 looks on the large side; they have played much better football compared to Chelsea this season and they have also been exceptionally good at the back. The only negative is what way Arteta approaches this game – I feel it they go for it, Chelsea are there for the taking. However, as I said I’m keen to keep stakes small in what should be a very interesting game.
The Striker Says:
One point win Arsenal to beat Chelsea at 2.34 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
