CARABAO CUP WEDNESDAY: The Striker previews the Second Round of the Carabao Cup as Grimsby host Manchester United with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
GRIMSBY V MANCHESTER UNITED
8pm We have midweek Carabao Cup action on Betdaq Betting Exchange this week! The focus on Wednesday in the second round is Grimsby hosting Manchester United in the Second Round. It’s not often we see Manchester United in action at this stage of the competition – indeed it’s been over a decade since they were last made to play in the Second Round. United’s terrible season last season, along with missing out on Europe, means they have to do the hard yards here.
Obviously there’s a huge gulf in class between the sides, and anything bar a Manchester United win would be quite the shock. Ruben Amorim is expected to ring the changes here, but at the same time he cannot afford any slip ups. United have started the Premier League season with a loss and a draw; we are seeing a lot of viral social media posts about Amorim’s Premier League record now. Anything bar a win here would likely see the pressure piled on; especially in a game where United are fully expected to win. Expectations weren’t that high facing Arsenal for example.
As you would expect, United come into the game as the red-hot favourites. They are trading 1.18 with Grimsby 18.5 and the draw is 9.2 at the time of writing. It’s hard to have a massive amount of confidence in this United side given how poor they were domestically last season. However, I do feel this is a case of how many goals can United score rather than will they actually win. They have created a huge amount of chances in their opening two Premier League games, but obviously the big worry here is how little they have actually converted.
There’s no extra time here so you would expect Grimsby might play for a draw and take their chances on penalties. That would be the natural thing to do when the opposition is starting as low as 1.18 to win! They might be able to frustrate this United side, but eventually United have to start taking all the chances they are creating. I’m very keen to keep stakes low here, but United can cover the handicap on the way to winning here – the gulf in class is just too big in my opinion for United to be troubled. They are trading around 1.5 -1.5 goals and that looks a nice value bet.
The Striker Says:
One point win Manchester United -1.5 goals to beat Grimsby at 1.5 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
