PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews Wednesday Night Football from the Premier League as Newcastle host Crystal Palace with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
NEWCASTLE V CRYSTAL PALACE
7.30pm While all the focus might be on the Champions League this week, we also have some midweek Premier League action on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Newcastle host Crystal Palace as they play their game in hand after this was moved from Carabao Cup Final weekend. That was obviously the highlight of Newcastle’s season, but they are bang in the Top Four race and have an excellent chance of getting Champions League football again. From that point of view, this is a must win game as they need as much cushion as possible on Manchester City on the run-in.
As things stand, Newcastle are sitting in fourth one point ahead of Manchester City. A win here would see that gap increase to four points, which is a pretty big lead with six games left. Newcastle still have to play Chelsea, Aston Villa away and Arsenal away on the run-in though. While they are looking over their shoulder at the moment, perhaps Nottingham Forest are finally going to drop out of the Top Four after back-to-back losses. Most Premier League fans have been expecting that to happen for a while now, but in fairness to Forest they have kept grinding out results – they are massively over-performing this season though.
This should be a good game. Palace have been playing some good football lately. They lost in an entertaining 5-2 away to Manchester City at the weekend, but you can easily forgive any side losing away to City. That’s only their fifth loss in 23 Premier League games showing that Palace have been difficult to beat. Newcastle put Manchester United to the sword at the weekend here; a very smooth 4-1 win but in fairness it’s been far too easy to beat United this season. Newcastle come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.78 with Crystal Palace 4.8 and the draw is 4.1 at the time of writing.
It’s a sign of how far United have fallen and how Palace have improved that Newcastle are much bigger to beat Palace compared to the price to beat United at the weekend! While I couldn’t put anyone off the Newcastle bet given the form they are in at the moment – they have all the momentum – I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here because this game screams goals in my opinion. We have two very attacking sides who have been creating a decent volume of chances this season. They like to play an open game too, and Over 2.5 goals looks a very nice bet at 1.77 which is only one tick lower than the Newcastle win. That’s a confident bet for me.
The Striker Says: Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.77 with Betdaq Exchange.
