NEWCASTLE V MANCHESTER CITY

8pm The Carabao Cup Third Round continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Newcastle v Manchester City the choice of Sky Sports on Wednesday night. It’s still very early in the season but the sides have already met in the Premier League. City ran out 1-0 winners with home advantage, but Newcastle did keep the game as tight as possible and kept City down to an xG of 1.22 which is way below their usual chances created. It will be interesting here to see can Newcastle get a result when they have home advantage, although it’s always hard to know what teams to expect when we are at this stage of the Cup.

The market isn’t sure what XI’s we’ll see here either. We have an exceptionally open market. Man City are favourites at 2.6 with Newcastle 2.8 and the draw is trading 3.75 at the time of writing. Newcastle made the headlines at the weekend with an 8-0 win over Sheffield United; they’ll face tougher opposition here though! It will be interesting to see the team news; both sides are in the Champions League and we all know how strong the City squad is.

I always wonder where would a second XI City side finish in the Premier League. Given the money they have on their bench each week, a second XI would probably finish mid-table! The 2.6 on City is definitely a tempting bet; Guardiola tends to not name a completely second choice XI and City still have their 100% record this season. You couldn’t fault them so far in the Premier League; their average xG created is 1.90 and they are only conceding an average of 0.83 which is the best defensive record in the Premier League this season.

City have been conceding the odd sloppy goal however, and Newcastle will have looked at Red Star Belgrade, West Ham, Fulham and Sheffield United found success. They all ended up getting beaten though. Newcastle built their success last season on being rock solid at home, and I’d expect them to try and keep this game as tight as possible. I couldn’t put anyone off the 2.6 on City because it feels a little big, but Under 2.5 goals stands out here at 2.26. I wasn’t expecting it to be trading as big as 2.26 when I clicked into the market – I know both sides have a lot of attacking talent but I’d have the market pretty much 50/50 here. We didn’t see many chances when the sides met in the Premier League recently and I’d expect a similar game.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 2.26 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
