PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews BRIGHTON v ASTON VILLA and LIVERPOOL v EVERTON both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BRIGHTON V ASTON VILLA
7.45pm We have a top class Wednesday night from the Premier League on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE! The Merseyside Derby is undoubtedly the highlight of the night, but we have five fixtures kicking off a little earlier at 7-45pm – the pick of which is Brighton hosting Aston Villa in my opinion. Both these sides were involved in FA Cup Quarter-Final action at the weekend, and they had different fates too with Aston Villa getting through to the Semi-Finals and Brighton crashing out on penalties at home to Nottingham Forest. We can add that experience to the list for Brighton in what’s been a largely disappointing season. They have been sloppy at the back, and that has caused them plenty of problems – although Brighton won’t be happy; we can’t be too harsh them. They come into this midweek round of fixtures just two points behind Chelsea in fourth so they are still very much in the mix for a European finish – it just feels like they’ve got into that position because other clubs have been poor though. Manchester United and Spurs are nowhere to be seen, and then Chelsea and Manchester City have dropped a lot of points this season. Still, Brighton just need to keep winning games and see what happens.
You could easily say similar things about Aston Villa – they are sitting in mid-table, two points behind Brighton. They have definitely been lacklustre in the Premier League; their average xG created is only 1.39 which is in the bottom seven attacking figure this season. They do have a Champions League Quarter-Final and an FA Cup Semi-Final to look forward to though! Brighton come into the game as the favourites at 2.2 with Aston Villa 3.35 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. I have very similar thoughts on the Brighton price than I did at the weekend; the 2.2 just doesn’t appeal as good value. I know we have doubts about Aston Villa, just like we did with Nottingham Forest at the weekend, but Brighton just haven’t got enough results this season to justify these odds in my opinion. I fully accept that there are some red flags with the Villa performance levels though, and I’m keen to keep stakes low in what should be a very close game. I think the draw looks nice value at 2.95 – I’d definitely have that shorter in a more open betting heat. I wouldn’t be surprised if these two cancelled each other out.

LIVERPOOL V EVERTON
8pm We finish Wednesday night with the Merseyside Derby! Hopefully we see as much drama as we did in the last Merseyside Derby; what a send-off for Goodison Park that was! As you would expect, Liverpool come into the game as the red hot favourites but as I said in my last preview of the Merseyside Derby; Everton get a lot more results than the odds suggest. Liverpool are trading 1.39 with Everton 10.5 and the draw is 5.3 at the time of writing. In the last ten meetings in all competitions, Everton have got a result six times. Obviously there’s a massive gulf in class between the sides, and although it’s generally a footballing cliché, Derbies do tend to bring the sides closer together. I said this about the last Merseyside Derby and I remain of the same opinion – I wouldn’t be rushing to take Liverpool at short odds given Everton’s recent record. I’m quite happy to stay out of the match odds market; the 1.39 feels very short on Liverpool but they have been so good this season I’m not going to recommend a lay. Everton have been on a great run since David Moyes took over too; they are unbeaten in nine Premier League games.
Everton games have been quite entertaining lately – Both Teams To Scored in their last six Premier League games, including the 2-2 draw with Liverpool. As I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here; obviously attention turns to the goals market. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.8 and Both Teams To Score is 2.22. I know Liverpool have been exceptional this season, but I do feel Everton can score at some stage. David Moyes has been quite positive with his Everton side, and to be honest they have no reason to sit back here and play for a draw. I know the market is expecting a reasonably open game because Over 2.5 goals is odds on, but I’d have Both Teams To Score a little shorter too given Everton’s recent run. I’m going to keep stakes low here though because Arne Slot has his side set up very well, but the 2.22 is too big to ignore in my opinion.
