9pm Friday Night Football comes from La Liga this week as Atletico Madrid host Real Mallorca. If this game is even half as entertaining as Barcelona v Atletico midweek then we’re in for a treat. Mallorca smashed five goals past Celta Vigo in their last fixture too, and although xG said that was a very unfair result, they’ll arrive with confidence and we should have a good game to watch.
That 5-1 win for Mallorca against Celta Vigo came from nowhere. They were without a win in their five games previous since returning from lockdown and although they had to play Barcelona and Real Madrid in that run; there was no real indicators that they were performing well. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, had been racking up the wins and more than held their own against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Atletico should win here, but that is reflected in the market as they are trading 1.3 on BETDAQ Exchange. I’m surprised to see Atletico odds against to cover the handicap however. They are 2.08 -1.5 goals. If the game goes in line with xG; Atletico cover the handicap.
Mallorca have given up a whopping 36 goals away from home this season and that is fairly reflected in xG too. Atletico have only conceded 10 at home in 16 games, with an xG of a little under 12. They are under-performing in front of goal, with an xG of nearly 30 at home but only netting 23. Mallorca might have scored five in their last game, but Atletico at home should boss them and odds against is worth backing to cover the handicap.
