BAYERN MUNICH V SCHALKE
7.30pm The Bundesliga is back! We had an extremely profitable Bundesliga last season and hopefully that continues as the new season starts. We kick off the season with the Champions taking on Schalke in what should be a routine home win. The markets agree with Bayern trading as low as 1.16. In fairness who could argue as the last time Bayern were beaten in the Bundesliga was November 2019. Even allowing for a big gap because of Covid19 that’s still a very impressive record.
Bayern were very impressive when winning the Champions League and it’s very hard not to see them winning the Bundesliga easily again. Dortmund are trying to hold on to their stars, but Manchester United will have something to say about that! Schalke had a very poor 2019/2020 and their underlining numbers were very poor too. They were terrible after returning from lockdown and we successfully took them on plenty of times. You know you have a problem when you’re only creating an xG of a little over one in the Bundealiga. They are also conceding more, indeed away from home they are giving up an xG of close to two.
I can only see one way traffic here for the Champions of Europe and I’m happy to back Bayern to cover the 2.5 goal handicap. Bayern generated an xG of close to 3 in their home games last season and Schalke are a poor side, although I have kept stakes reasonably low because it’s the first game of the season. Bayern can ease past Schalke and hopefully they can start with a bang in front of goal.
